Today, I’m sharing a Pittsburgh favorite the Pittsburgh Steak Salad! It’s a steak salad w/fries on it! Have you ever had one or heard of it? Would you eat a salad with fries? In Pittsburgh, it’s totally normal. In fact, growing up, I thought all steak salads had fries. It’s delicious! . The recipe, nutrition info & some Pittsburgh food facts are on my blog (link below.) Here’s what you need: GREENS - I love ALL greens so I used a combination of Fifth Season Bridge Ci...ty Blend Spring Mix & Three Rivers Blend. Their greens are grown indoors, in a vertical farm in Pittsburgh & are super fresh! Plus, they’re one of my Pittsburgh partners! Fun fact Pittsburgh is known as the city of bridges & the for the Three Rivers, which is the name of their greens! Steak - I grilled a filet, then sliced it thin. You can use any steak you want. Fries this is the must-have ingredient. It’s not a Pittsburgh steak salad if it doesn’t have fries. I used frozen shoe-string fries. one hard boiled egg, quartered shredded cheddar cheese I used baby tomatoes, halved. You can also use tomato wedges. Ranch dressing. I used my homemade, reduced calorie ranch. It also has croutons & ground pepper. This salad is one of my favorites! Head over to my blog for the details and if you try it, let me know what you think! https://heathermangieri.com/pittsburgh-style-steak-salad/

I partnered with Pure Choice Whey specifically for thi...s recipe, because their peanut butter protein is what makes it! I’m sharing more on that, plus all the details of the recipe & nutrition facts on my blog https://heathermangieri.com/the-best-peanut-butter-protein/
Have you heard of ORTHOREXIA? It’s a form of disordered eating characterized by an obsession to eat only healthy (or what the person views as healthy) food. From the outside, it might look like healthy eating, but there’s nothing healthy about it. Orthorexia typically starts off very innocent, with the desire to eat a healthier diet. But, for some at-risk people, it turns into an obsessive, restrictive & inflexible eating pattern. I don’t know if it’s social media, having... more time at home, or just my nutrition practice, but I’ve been seeing more & more adolescent girls & boys suffering from this form of disordered eating. It breaks my heart Increasing awareness of Orthorexia has been a passion of mine for years, since I first starting working with teens and young athletes. Still, it seems many people are not familiar. If you’re one of them, especially if you have a teenager daughter or son, please take 5 minutes to learn about it. You can read the full post on my blog https://heathermangieri.com/orthorexia-an-unhealthy-obsess/
Question for all the coffee drinkers out there. Have you ever put coffee in a smoothie? If not, you have to try my latest caffeinated creation - a creamy, coffee protein smoothie! I’ve been making & drinking smoothies for over 25 years, and I just tried this for the first time last week. I wasn’t even trying to create a new smoothie recipe. I was running late, so I combined my coffee and my breakfast into one. It has everything a balanced breakfast should carbs, fiber, protein, with the kick of caffeine! And, a delicious coffee flavor without being overwhelming. Get the recipe & nutrition facts on my blog https://heathermangieri.com/creamy-coffee-protein-smoothie/
Do you have a favorite way to eat veggies? Raw? Roasted? Steamed? Sautéed? For me, it depends on which vegetable it is. When it comes to cauliflower, I definitely prefer it roasted! And, while there are loads of delicious ways to season it, I prefer a simple preparation with just a small amount of olive oil, salt & pepper. I’m sharing my simple recipe & nutrition facts on my blog https://heathermangieri.com/easy-oven-roasted-cauliflower/
