As you go about your weekends, please take a few moments to think about the immense sacrifices rendered on our behalf by all of the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces. We thank each and every one of our Veterans. Happy Veterans Day!

We are once again pleased to announce that our funeral director and supervisor, Joseph Schlupp, in cooperation with the Matthews Children's Foundation, recently presented grants of $1,000 each to the Drueding Center as well as the Safe Harbor Organization of Abington Hospital-Jefferson Health. Please see the captions below each photo for more information about these local childrens' organizations. These grants were made possible by the Matthews Children's Foundation, the Helw...eg & Rowland Funeral Home, and the families we have served. To date, we have secured $133,700 in grants from the Foundation for local childrens' organizations. The Matthews Children's Foundation is a nonprofit that is managed by casket manufacturer Matthews International. The foundation was established in 1992 and awards grants to children’s organizations through local funeral homes. Their sole purpose is to brighten the future of children in need. The grants are awarded quarterly. Each time a family selects a Matthews casket, the funeral home makes a memorial donation to the Foundation. Local charities are nominated by funeral directors across the country and grants are issued by the Foundation’s Board of Trustees. See more

Every year in June, Pride is celebrated in cities across the United States. Today, we raise the Pride flag at the funeral home in celebration of the successes - and in recognition of the sacrifices - our LGBTQ brothers and sisters have made to secure equality in love. But today also marks the one-year anniversary of the tragic shooting in Orlando at Pulse Nightclub. So - on this day in particular - we remember and mourn the victims of that tragedy, and honor the heroes. We stand with you.

In observance of St. Patrick's Day, we are flying the Irish flag today at the funeral home! St. Patrick’s Day is the observance of the death of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. It began as a religious feast in the 17th century and in more recent memory, has evolved into a variety of festivals around the world that celebrate Irish culture with parades, special foods, music, dancing, and lots of green. However you choose to celebrate, we wish you a safe and happy St. Patrick's Day! Joe Schlupp
