Sable Says Blog #11 I know this is Sable's blog, but I was bored, So its a Johnny Rocket Take-over! I have been noticing that my personal butlers have been keeping me away from the rooms with new friends in them. Why? I had a conversation with Dr. Edkin about, to find out that 1 and 5 people globally are sensitized to cat allergens. Humans are allergic to a protein in my saliva that while I groom get on my hair and dandruff. There is a new food called Purina ProPlan Live Clear that helps neutralize this protein. Once on this food there is a 50% reduction of this protein in cats. Which means relief for owners who suffer from cat allergies!

The State Department of Health is requesting all veterinarians treat only animals with illnesses at this time. Accordingly, all routine procedures should be postponed for 2 weeks until further notice with the exception of puppy, kitten, and rabies vaccinations. When visiting Hempfield Animal Hospital with a patient or picking up medications, we ask that you call upon arrival and we will come get you for your appointment. Anyone requiring medication or food refills please call beforehand so they are ready when you arrive. Please help us be part of the solution not part of the problem. Thank you Hempfield Animal Hospital

Coronavirus Update: Veterinary services are currently not required to close in the state of Pennsylvania. We intend to remain open unless that situation changes! We are however adopting policies to limit the risks of covid-19 in the community. We will be staggering the appointment times to reduce the number of people in the waiting room at any one point of time. Please postpone any elective yearly exams, vaccinations or procedures for at least 2 weeks. ... Please consider using our online pharmacy for medication refills which are shipped directly to your home . It is accessible through the link below, our website, or facebook page. Sable Says #10- Don't mind me, I am just practicing my royalty sit for the day I finally get to dress as the princess that I am, Halloween! or should I say HALLOQUWEEN! I am so excited! I do want to share a few tips to my fellow pet friends who are excited like I am, or nervous cause all those mysterious intruders to be around is not normal! With all the blinky lights, noise, costumes it can be overwhelming for us! Make sure to have your collars and tags on for the big night.... If you don't want to be bothered maybe our wonderful parents can designate a quiet room for us to be in for the night, consider adding a light noise such as a TV, music or fan to distract us. Although there is nothing cuter than us in costumes. With all the activity going on to easily over excite us, make sure we want to be in the costume and it is comfortable. If you want us to wear a costume maybe introduce it early and create a positive association with it! Lastly, we all know how sneaky we can be with food. Hide the candy bowl. Let's try to be good and stay away from chocolate, especially dark and those sugar free candies- contain xylitol, a sugar substitute that can cause serious problems for our furry friends. If you are dressing up or just sitting by your spooky friends, leave a photo here. Have a fun and safe Halloween! See more

Sable Says Blog#9: AHHH!!! I hate this time of year, thunderstorms, fireworks, and so many different scary noises. I feel like running for the hills till it goes away! I do wonder how our hoomans seem so calm during all of this. Thankfully, I get a delicious treat with my thunder medication-to make the noise less scary. I have heard about thundershirts that work for some dogs, but what I like to do best is find a place I feel safe and hide until its over. Though I have to make sure I have one of my stuffed toys! Consider building me a safe place to hide or ask about anxiey medication.
