Centerville Elementary School reading specialists Julie Engle and Amy Saporetti shared these photos of CES second graders using resources purchased courtesy from funds from Hempfield Foundation teacher grant. Students learned how poems and stories are alike and different. They also learned to identify the topic of a poem. The phonics skill for this lesson focused on opened and closed syllable types. Students learned how identifying syllable types can help them read unkno...wn words.
