https://www.dcnr.pa.gov/Communi/Wildfire/Pages/default.aspx Mercer and Crawford Counties are still in the HIGH risk for wildfires/brush fires - which means fires can spread easily if not tended to.

New Year - New Laundry Area With the start of the new year came a couple of new projects around the station. Chief 94 and his wife, along with members, are working to prepare a new laundry area - the gear washer and dryer that are to be delivered soon. Additionally, our kitchen is getting a much needed face-lift with a new coat of paint, new countertops and the cabinets will be refreshed with a new coat of stain.

Sending thoughts of the Winemiller family, Shenango and West Middlesex fire departments Dec.30 2020 -- Today, Chief King, Firefighter Cornman and Firefighter Eicher attended the funeral for Chaplain Gary Winemiller, who passed away Dec. 26, 2020. The Hempfield Township VFD sends thoughts of sympathy to both Gary's blood family, including daughter Melody Winemiller McIntire and son-in-law Phillip McIntire, a former HVFD member, and his fire department families as they prepare... to say goodbye. By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. - 1 John 3:16 Thank you Rev. Winemiller, we will take it from here.

As we prepare for Christmas celebrations, Chief King and Chief-2 Pfaff want to remind residents of the importance of being safe throughout the holiday season and all year long. For those who will be traveling for the holiday, please use caution as we are expected to receive snow and cold temperatures, making sure to have an emergency kit in your vehicle with cat litter or sand, blanket, bottles of water and be sure you have your cell phone charger. Also, make sure that your v...ehicles lights are illuminated so other motorists will be able to see you. For those who are hosting family and friends, be sure to clear sidewalks and driveways of snow and ice to prevent slip and fall injuries. For those who are cooking and baking, be sure to keep an eye on the stove and other cooking appliances, and use caution to not overload circuits. For anyone who lives near a fire hydrant, consider shoveling out an area of 3 to 4 feet around the hydrant so it is easily accessible in the event of a fire. Moments count when it comes to a fire, and having access to the hydrant is critical. Make sure candles are extinguished before leaving home and/or before bed, and make sure to keep flammable items away from the flames. Thank you for your continued support of the Hempfield Township VFD, and Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from the Station 94 family.
