NOTICE TO THE RESIDENTS OF HEREFORD TOWNSHIP, BERKS COUNTY, PENNSYLVANIA NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Zoning Hearing Board of Hereford Township will hold a public hearing on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. at the Hereford Township Garage, 3131 Seisholtzville Road, Barto, Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania 18062 to consider the Application of Habitats of Hope, LLC, for property located at 1194 Huffs Church Road, Barto, which is the subject of this applicati...on, requesting a variance from Article II Section 202 of the Hereford Township Zoning Ordinance of May 27, 2009, as amended, to permit removal of the limit of 5 unrelated individuals residing in the same household in the definition of Transitional Housing. Applicant is seeking a variance to allow 16 unrelated people in the premises. In addition, Applicant is seeking a determination that the Township’s Zoning Ordinance is exclusionary in application and defacto in that the use of Transitional Housing in not provided for specifically in any zoning district of the Township. Applicant also alleges that the use of Traditional Housing is excluded by the literal interpretation of the provisions of the Zoning Ordinance. Applicant contends that the Zoning Ordinance violates the Fair Housing Amendments Act of 1988 in that the definition of Family in the Zoning Ordinance creates a disparate impact on people with disabilities and the dispersion requirements of Section 1916 B. 1. is a discriminatory classification. The Property which is the subject of the application for the above variance is located in the Village Preservation District (VP) and is owned by Edgar and Donna Land. Public attendance is permitted. Please bring a lawn chair if you wish to sit. Masks and distancing will be required for in-person attendance. A copy of the Application requesting the variance is available for inspection at the Hereford Township Building, 3131 Seisholtzville Road, Macungie, Hereford Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. The Berks County Conservation District will be hosting an SLF Banding Material Giveaway this Friday, June 19th from 10:00am 2:00pm. The pickup location will be at the main entrance to the Ag Center, 1238 County Welfare Road, Leesport PA, 19533. This will be a minimal contact, drive through style event to protect customers. Customers are permitted 1 roll per household at no charge. We ask that they do not call ahead as we do not have the ability to field phone calls. Limited quantities available so first come first serve.

We are trying to get the word out to the voters that the Primary has been moved to June 2, 2020. If you would be able to place on your websites and also in your newsletters(if it didn’t go out yet) that the Primary Election has been moved to June 2, 2020. Also,if a voter does not want to go to their respective polling location on the day of the primary they can request a mail-in ballot by going to Votespa.com or completing a paper application by calling the Election Service...s Office at 610-478-6490.
