Miss Kelly LIVE! is postponed this month due to illness. Instead enjoy this wildlife photo lesson. These creatures all make their home in Hemlock Farms and Pike County. Read the captions to learn more. And we added a bonus photo of Flat Stanley too! Hopefully Miss Kelly will be on the mend soon and Stanley will be back to his adventures!
Flat Stanley and Hemlock Farms Conservancy are taking the time today to reflect and be grateful for all of the beauty around us in Hemlock Farms and the greater Pike County area. Forest, streams, lakes, and wildlife are something we should never take for granted. We will continue to work to protect our precious natural resources. Let us remember that all people have a right to clean water, fresh air, and open spacea truly fair sharing of the great gifts this planet can prov...ide for all. There is much work to be done, let’s keep showing up to make it happen! Thanks to Jan and Art Sussman for sending us this beautiful photo of a wild turkey. Stanley tried his hand at creating his own turkey art. He did a great job, don’t you think?

Flat Stanley continued his adventures and visited our Chestnut Tree Restoration Project. He was still very careful to dress properly to avoid ticks! Even with colder temperatures ticks are present in brush and leaf litter. Our trees are no longer green and most of their leaves have dropped off as winter will soon arrive. Stanley was a bit unruly and climbed the fence around one of our trees. This meant a time out for quiet at home. He calmed down and read a book about ponds a...nd marshes to prepare for next weeks adventure! See more
Flat Stanley begins his adventures today! As you can see he is properly dressed for a walk in the woods. Shirt tucked in, light colored clothing, pants tucked into hiking boots. All of these things will protect him from picking up ticks. Light colored clothing will also help Stanley notice if a tick is on his clothing, because ticks are dark in color and VERY small. A hat will protect his head from the sun and today, keep him dry in the rain.He wore his mask whenever other people were nearby because Covid 19 cases are on the rise in Pike County currently. Flat Stanley could not resist jumping into this pile of leaves. Have fun and stay safe out there Stanley!
Miss Kelly LIVE and Flat Stanley talk about walking in the woods and ticks.
Hemlock Farms Conservancy hopes you find some space for peace and self care today. Streams, forests, and natural surrounding are a good place to take a break from stress and anxiety. Try to get outside if you can. And if you can’t, take some time reflecting on this photo.
