Because of COVID-19, we were unable to celebrate #ChildLifeMonth in March, so we will be recognizing our incredible #CHOPChildLife team this week! Meet our Child Life Team on 5 West B and 5 South! Keara, Sam and Jess support patients and families diagnosed with or managing Hyperinsulinism (HI) at CHOP. As Certified Child Life Specialists (CCLS), Jess and Sam help patients and families by explaining various medical procedures, such as G-Tube placements and PET scans, in orde...r to facilitate understanding and promote positive coping. As the Child Activity Coordinator (CAC), Keara provides patients with opportunities for play through bedside/playroom activities. The child life team aims to normalize the hospital environment and assist families in making memories through legacy building projects. It is their privilege to serve these patients and families coping with the challenges of this rare illness and to work alongside the HI Team! *Please note: Photo was captured prior to physical distancing and universal masking recommendations.
