The Hidden Valley Mountain Metric is a sponsor of the September 11 National Memorial Trail. Here is an update on the progress made to extend the Great Allegheny Passage (GAP) from Garrett to the Flight 93 National Memorial. The bicycle club is getting active! 4 of us (including Jay Barbaccia, Sara Gray, and Rick Marafino) rode from Berlin to the Flight 93 Memorial today. Terrific back roads and awesome scenery. A lot of rolling hills, but a few were in the 10-11% range. 25 miles with 2500 feet of climbing when all was said and done. Lead a ride or come on out for one of our posted rides! Ron Aldom, Sara Gray and Jay Barbaccia were honored to represent the Hidden Valley Mountain Metric at the groundbreaking for an extension of the GAP from the Garrett trailhead to the Flight 93 Memorial. This will be an integral part of the 911 Memorial Trail. The vision of the 911 Memorial Trail is to connect the 3 major sites involved with the 9/11 attacks (Shanksville, PA, New York City, and Arlington, VA) with a 1,300 mile bicycle trail on dedicated bicycle paths. Our own Hidden Valley Mountain Metric was a contributor to this effort.
