I hope no one needs this hack for removing fiberglass shards from a toddler’s little hand, but it saved us some tears today! I was distracted with some rocks when my wee one grabbed ahold of some weathered stakes in the field. It was a bad scene; quick tears and yelling. I tried the usual stuff like cold water, soap and one-way scrubbing, duct tape, and bactine to relieve the pain. Her little hands still looked like they were full of glitter. I put in a call to a friend who ...called an EMT/boy-mom friend who recommended elmers glue! Non-toxic, won’t sting or stain, gets in all the nooks, and very available for me to turn into fingerpaint. I let it dry on, and it seemed to pull most of the slivers out. I’m saving this one for the next time I’ve got my own handful. See more

Framed watercolor of Blue. Blue crossed the rainbow bridge a couple of weeks ago as a casualty of rescue efforts to stop a house fire. Everyone got out safely, and the house was saved with minutes to spare. The dog owners are friends of mine; so is Marwin Cummings, the homeowner, and person responsible for the awesome framing.
