Batten down the hatches! Very windy conditions are expected Thursday night into Friday morning. We've issued a High Wind Watch due to the possibility of wind gusts of up to 60 MPH. Get ready before then by bringing inside objects that could be easily blown around!

We would like to congratulate our Captain Steve Wehrspann on receiving Firefighter of the Year! Steve was a huge asset in 2020. He is in charge of our scba maintenance, calibrates all of our meters and most recently helped secure a grant to replace our washer and upgrade to a proper gear dryer. He also took on renovating our kitchen with new appliances. Steve responded to nearly 200 calls in 2020 which is very active. He took all of this on, all while working full time and raising his 3 young children with his wife Amy. We appreciate everything you do for us Steve, this is so well deserved!

Today we sent our beloved engine 2, or as some of you may know it as 302, to its new home. Engine 2 unfortunately failed it’s pump test, which is a requirement of our department. It just wasn’t worth putting the money in to such an old piece of machinery. It served the Town of McCandless for 37 years and has become an icon on the Santa detail each year. We wish the new owners the best of luck with it. This video is of its final drive out of our station on to Highland road.
