We just wrapped up a spectacular Colorado Grouse tour and ended with great views of all possible grouse and quail species, finishing with the tremendous display of 60 male Greater Sage-Grouse. In order of appearance, we saw Scaled Quail, Lesser and Greater Prairie-Chickens, Wild Turkey, White-tailed Ptarmigan, Gunnison Sage-Grouse, Gambel's Quail, Sharp-tailed and Dusky Grouse, and Greater Sage-Grouse with introduced Ring-necked Pheasant and Chukar thrown into the mix. Your Bird for the weekend is the Cave Swallow (Petrochelidon fulva), a species that has greatly expanded its range. In Texas, we can study it in nesting colonies right alongside the similar Cliff Swallow and also enjoy great views at the Rio Frio Bat Cave. Cave Swallow Photo Stephan Lorenz
