I would like to send out an apology to all of our previous professionals, customers, friends, and family. At the end of our last open day of October 12th, 2019 we had made it clear that all prescription records, files, and patient data would be located at the Brighton Health Mart location located at 525 5th Avenue New Brighton. The State requires any pharmacy that closes to make sure that all records are transferred to another location for any reference and or requirements ...that may come about after the business ceases to exist. Hometown Apothecary did take the steps to ensure that all records and patient data for retail prescriptions would be located at the Brighton Health Mart. The actual server with all patient data as well as previous 2 years of hard copy prescription records are located at the Brighton Health Mart. Hometown Apothecary along with the Brighton Health Mart did not take all proper action in making sure the continuity of care would take place and for that reason we are truly sorry. Brighton Health Mart does not have to take any liability from the Hometown Apothecary records and has the right to choose to honor any existing refills that did exist within the software or the right to deny them. Hometown Apothecary did complete many transfers over the course of the last week of business operation but did not complete a transfer for every individual active prescription refill on file. It was assumed that any active prescription would be transferred at the end of business on 10/12/2019 with the actual transfer of the server to the Brighton Health Mart. It was assumed that professional judgement and compassion would be used in dealing with any active patient profile that did not get issued prior to Hometown’s closing. Physicians, pharmacists, patients, and other health care professionals should have been notified as to what will be taking place and what will need to take place moving forward. Many people have reached out with concern. The misunderstanding of the process that Brighton Health Mart will require all new prescriptions for each customer moving forward was not to our knowledge. We apologize for not knowing this policy in advance so that everyone involved could be prepared.
