Good Morning. It’s been about 2 weeks since I posted about the current situation with Dentistry and the COVID-19 virus. Like many dental offices I am continually monitoring the current situation and guidelines recommended by the CDC, Pa DOH and American Dental Association. As you may know the PA DOH amended their very restrictive shutdown of virtually all dental offices in Pennsylvania to allow us to see our dental patients who have a dental emergency, have no indications of... or exposure to COVID-19 and who are not compromised by any type of immunodeficiency. So what constitutes a dental emergency? Some of my patients have expressed they’re unsure if they have an emergency. The American Dental Association issued a statement on Sunday and I will put it in simpler terms here to give you some guidance. A dental emergency, may include, but is not limited to: severe dental pain, surgical post-operative dental pain, dental abscess, tooth fracture, dental trauma, dental treatment prior to critical medical procedures, final crown/bridge cementation, and biopsy procedures. Still not certain you have a dental emergency? Give our office a call and we can discuss your individual situation. There may be a solution that doesn’t require you to come to the office. We will interview you so we can determine if an actual visit to our office is indicated. You should expect to be asked the following questions: Are you sick? Thanks Do you have a fever? Do you have a cough? Do you have shortness of breath? Have you tested positive for COVID-19 or had direct contact with someone who has tested positive? The next few weeks will be vital to our nations health. Please practice social distancing. It’s not an option. Wash your hands frequently and Stay Healthy!
