Internal vs. External focus of attention and how that relates to performance... Reposted from @chrisabeardsley Exactly how an internal focus of attention might enhance muscle growth is not clear. While there are indications that an internal focus of attention involves higher levels of muscle activation (in part due to increased antagonist coactivation), there is currently no widely-accepted mechanism for how this might stimulate more hypertrophy when training to failure. Reposted from @andiealauzen.fitness Benefits of exercise stretch beyond the physical components - although, hey, those are great too! Besides trimming your waistline, regular exercise can have a profound impact on mental heath. PTSD? Help your nervous system get unstuck by moving out of the immobilization stress response that characterizes trauma. ADHD? Improve concentration, motivation, memory, and mood. Physical activity gives the brain a boost in dopamine and serot...onin- all which affect focus and attention. Besides those, exercise relieves stress improves memory helps you sleep better boosts your mood (gotta love those endorphins being released! ) builds resilience to those challenges that life throws at all of us. For me, excercise has been a way to work out those inner emotions that sometimes don't have words. It's a really sweet thing to put energy on sharing that with others. Cheers to the learning process of what that looks like. Find what works for you and then...stick with it!
