Coach Troy will be at the practice field tonight to handle in-person registrations for the HYFA football camp. Please feel free to stop by and sign your kiddos up for what's sure to be a good time! Camp is every Tuesday & Thursday through October 15!

(Email sent yesterday) Good afternoon, HYFA Family, We wanted to send an update since the last communication you received from us was that the season was cancelled per CFA majority vote. That hasn’t changed, however, HYFA’s Smurf Coach, Troy Harris, is going to be starting a camp for kids who were interested in or signed up for HYFA. The camp will be on Tuesday and Thursday evenings, beginning August 6th and running through October 15th. The fee is $50 for the whole season..., $25 for 11 sessions or $10 per session. This camp will focus primarily on athletic development and help provide a competitive setting for the children. A camp t-shirt will be included in the full season purchase. You can register on HYFA’s website at www.hyfa.org. Another option, for those interested, is playing tackle football for the Elizabethtown Boys Club. They have 3 squads, B (11-12 year olds), C (9-10 year olds) and D (7-8 year olds). Ages are AS OF 6/1/20. As Elizabethtown is affiliated with Red Rose Midget Football, they are still having a season. Coach Wayne Simmons (last year’s HYFA Peewee coach) will be heading the C squad. As of now, they have a little over 40 players and hope to have 55-60 kids signed up by Sunday. If they are unable to field full teams, they will also consider suspending their season. Practice is set to begin Monday, August 3, so please register your player as soon as possible at http://www.etownboysclub.com/football. They also have a cheer squad, but we honestly don't know much about it insofar as their requirements, however, information can be found here http://www.etownboysclub.com/cheerleading. As stated, they are NOT affiliated with the CFA, so their rules are a little different. They do not have the striper rule, so it’s assumed anyone who is over the weight limit will not get any playing time during games. We do not know any information regarding participation in practices at this time. There are at least 8 peewees from last year’s HYFA squad who have signed on to play for Etown. If you choose to play for Etown, you will not need a waiver, nor will you need a waiver to return to HYFA next year. Obviously, whatever you decide to do for your children is up to you and them, however, we do want to stress that HYFA was prepared for the COVID guidelines before the season was cancelled, so any and all requirements presented by the CDC, PA DOH and DTSD have been implemented and will be strictly adhered to within the HYFA football camp. HYFA Families: With Dauphin County moving into the green phase this Friday, I wanted to provide an update on the 2020 football and cheerleading season. In-person registration will be held on the following dates at Memorial Field: ... Wednesday June 24 from 6-8pm Saturday June 27 from 10am-12pm Monday June 29 from 6-8pm We will not be collecting registration fees at this time. Registration fees will be due at equipment pickup, date TBD. Football-$125 Cheerleading-$85 If your child did not play football or cheer last year and is new to the program please bring along a copy of their birth certificate to registration. Online registration is unavailable at this time. We will follow up with an additional post when online registration becomes available. Regarding start of practices, start of season and Covid-19 guidelines for practices and games- we continue to await further guidance from the CFA Football League and the Derry Township School District. Registration Update: Under normal circumstances HYFA would be opening the registration process for the upcoming football season this month. While we can’t wait for the start of the new season, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the board has decided it is best to hold off on accepting registrations at this time until we receive further guidance from Derry Township School District, the CFA and state government officials as to when youth sports activities in our area can resume safely. Great article on former Hershey football grad, Chris Villarrial. Coach V and I played togwhter in High School and he was one of very few Hershey players ever to make it to the pros with a great 11 year career on the offensive line for Chicago Bears and Buffalo Bills. Kiddos, doesn't matter where you are from or how small your football program is, if you work hard and believe, you can do anything. He played his college ball at IUP. I want to send out a special thanks to coach Sharp. Angel arrived at HYFA with no football experience, never played football at all and coach Sharp took him u...nder his wing and introduced him to a game that he now loves and enjoys to play. Angel arrived to play after we moved from Puerto Rico and learning a new language was also learning a new sport. I still remember when coach Sharp would scream Mucho Agresivo (lots of aggressiveness) so Angel would understand. At one point Angel sustained an injury at practice and was taken to the hospital in ambulance and coach Sharp arrived at the hospital and stood by Angel’s side in the ER until he knew everything was alright and no serious injury occurred. We are forever grateful and can’t thank him enough. Angel went from nothing to multiple All Star games to first team defense and it couldn’t happen without the great coaching by his side. Thank you coach Sharp for always being there. Thank you coach Cory and thanks to HYFA for everything GO TROJANS !!!! See more

HYFA Family! Due to tomorrow's expected rainy weather, Equipment Turn-in has been rescheduled to Monday November 11th from 6-7:30pm.

If you are looking for a way to get your player in great shape over the winter and develop some confidence for next season, consider youth wrestling. Great program led by Hershey Alumni, Jason Peters. Jason was one of only 2 State wrestling champions for Hershey. He went on to wrestle and coach in college. He led University of Pittsburgh to an ACC title and then decided to come home to raise his family (2 sons) and develop youth wrestlers of Hershey. Kiddos literally getting ACC Championship coaching at nearly no cost.

Kid is a PONY!!!! Thankfully CFA has striper rule and no one this big would ever run the ball in our league.
