Today’s Fitness Facts Friday covers consistency! At iAMFit we preach consistency across the board not only for our clients but for our trainers as well. Consistency is the most important factor when working towards fitness and weight loss goals. Without consistency programs quickly become disorganized, the body has difficulty adapting and progressing, and it's much more difficult to create the habit of a regular fitness routine. In only 72 hours your body will begin to lose t...he muscle mass you worked so hard to gain, this includes the heart, our most important muscle. Workout programs are created to be followed on set days over a period of 4 weeks. Each day is designed to prepare you for the next, more challenging phase so you can achieve your goals. These programs also ensure that you are minimizing or reducing any imbalances in your body. If the program isn't followed consistently, the next phase may need to be delayed, prolonging the time that it takes to meet your goals. You'll see the following adaptations quicker when you're consistent with your fitness routine: Improved ability of the muscles to burn fat as energy. Stronger ligaments and tendons. Increased VO2 max (meaning you can workout longer and harder). Increased number of capillaries in the muscles. Stronger heart. Increased force production. Being inconsistent, or yo-yoing, can lead to issues with your metabolism and hormones, eventually making it more difficult to lose weight and improve your health. Consistency = habit.
