Please see the accompanying report from a Belgian scientist/virologist about how to return toward normal activities. It's lengthy and quite technical but to summarize, COVID-19 is mostly spread in aerosolized form, and the current 6 foot social distancing measures and any masks other than N95 are not sufficient. Our best chance for successfully reopening sooner than later will be expanded testing, tracing and monitoring, along with everyone wearing N95 masks and continuing ...to practice good hygiene. Remember, you’re not just wearing the mask for your own health, you’re wearing it for everyone else’s too. Finding a reliably effective treatment would be another way to get back to normal soon, but we can’t count on that. Taking the simple measures outlined in this report, we only rely upon ourselves, no lucky breaks needed. Please share this post. Let’s go viral on this virus! https://www.linkedin.com//urn:li:activity:665993173158549/

We hope our IBS-80 fb followers remain safe and continue to do your part to keep everyone well. When conditions permit, we look forward to getting back to food patch testing in search of food allergies that cause IBS symptoms. Avoidance of foods identified by our patch testing often results in significant improvement or complete resolution of IBS symptoms.

Our food patch testing for IBS is now available in 12 states (https://www.ibs-80.com/availability/), with more on the way! Make an appointment with a dermatology practice that performs patch testing (most do), show them the information available at www.ibs-80.com, and ask them to prescribe and schedule the testing for you. It's just like the traditional patch testing they do for skin rashes, except that they'll have to order/prescribe the food allergens from our pharmacy for your testing. Everything they’ll need is in the patch test kit with support materials available on The Providers pages of the website. After receving your prescription, the pharmacy will ship the patches within 2 weeks, so your testing can be scheduled accordingly. It’s that easy! Please share this post to help others!

Have you felt the skyrocketing costs of prescription medications? www.GoodRx.com is a great site to price shop and find the best deal for you. A recent search found linaclotide (brand Linzess), for IBS-C, has a price tag of $369 to $386 per month or about $4500 per year in the greater Philadelphia area. Eluxadoline (brand Viberzi), for IBS-D, comes in at $1076 to $1131 per month or about $13,200 per year. These medications help about 50% of IBS sufferers who try them, so the ...yearly cost per patient helped is even greater. Clearly, a better approach would be to find an underlying cause and fix it. Using the results from our recent study (41.7% of people tested reporting 8 to 10 improvement on a scale of 0 to 10, or essentially cured), then you have to test an average of 5 people to cure 2 of them. That’s 5 x $854 = $4270 in patch testing costs for 2 cures or $2135 spent in testing for every 1 cure. Not only will those people not be suffering any more, but there will be massive savings in terms of costs to society for doctor’s visits, other diagnostic testing, medications and work or school productivity. Some insurance companies have recognized the value of the testing for their clients and for themselves and cover its costs. Others do not cover it yet, but we plan on making them aware shortly of the testing's potentially great benefit for their enrollees and the great savings they'll see.

A patient recently tested was found to have an allergy to a yellow food dye. She had been taking a yellow pill daily which she stopped and now reports her IBS symptoms are gone.
