This month’s Faces of IEI employee spotlight is on Joan Marchesani, the employee who knows all the employees, and one who has been with the firm since the beginning. Joan leads IEI’s financial, HR, IT, and administrative efforts, and as if that doesn’t sound like enough, she does even much more than that. She touches upon practically every aspect of the business, and her contributions to IEI’s daily functions are immeasurable. IEI employees have been supporting their local communities in different ways during these unprecedented times. Today we are highlighting the mask making efforts of Nadine, Helen and Justine. Combined they have made a whopping 150 masks & counting! The masks have benefited the local Philadelphia community, healthcare workers, restaurants, a day care, fellow staff, friends and family. Helen's efforts have raised over $1,300 to date. Many preparations have been made in the IEI office to follow CDC guidelines - including adjustments to the conference room. In-person meetings are kept to a minimum these days, and limited in capacity, but when necessary they can still be held safely. We removed most of the chairs around the main table and spaced them at least 6' apart. Seating was supplemented with chairs and small tables along the perimeter walls. Black carpet tiles were added to serve as a visual reminder ...for physical distancing. Individual pens, pads and disinfectant wipes can be provided for attendees, and the room is sanitized after each meeting. During IEI’s work-from-home period, IEI encouraged employees to support their own local food establishments by offering a weekly meal stipend, to be used towards curbside pick-up or food deliveries. Participating staff members were reimbursed for over $2,000 in meal expenses while working from home. It was a nice perk both for our employees and to help out the restaurant industry which has been hit so hard by the pandemic. #IEIgivesback #IEIeats #supportinglocal

Back in the office! Now that stay-at-home restrictions have been lifted, employees are starting to come into the office again. We’re operating with a staggered schedule to limit occupancy, and all guidelines are being followed with everyone’s safety as first priority. IEI’s president Rosemary Español was honored at the annual Gesu School Gala last night with a 2020 Spirit Medal for her personal and professional contributions to the school over the last 20 years. Rosemary and IEI have provided pro bono professional architectural and design services to the school helping it achieve significant expansion and increasing accessibility and student learning opportunities. Rosemary has also been a dedicated trustee since 2000, offering critical e...xpertise and consultation for Gesu’s ongoing facilities initiatives. The medal is an honor to Rosemary who remains as committed as ever to support the teachers, staff, and children of this very special institution.
