https://www.gofundme.com/f/pa-realtors-dying-only-state-in- May 7th, 2020 - Governor Wolf has extended the restrictions in place for another 27 days MINIMUM wh...ich will literally bankrupt some of my best friends in the real estate industry, totaling a 90 day RUN OF NOT making money and potentially losing your license if you practice real estate. Please give me a second to explain this from the top so you get the full picture of what we are going through. We are on a commission, totally. Our children survive only if we work nights, weekends, and answer our phone to service our clients. This is an honorable industry and we are THE ONLY STATE in AMERICA that is going through this. What even worse is that all of our neighboring states are practicing to some degree, including New York and New Jersey, which are considered epicenters of the virus, BUT THESE governors understand that real estate is essential, and are allowing in-person services to continue under new social distancing guidelines. But NOT IN Pennsylvania, Governor WOLF has put his foot on the neck the real estate industry starting in Early MARCH, almost 60 days ago from today, the day I am creating this campaign. The Governor is going against the federal government which states that the real estate industry, including settlement services, should be considered essential critical infrastructure. I don't care to talk about the first-time homebuyers, single parents, doctors, and other emergency workers who may be unable to ‘stay at home’ if they’re not able to secure their new home because of these orders. That's nothing compared to some of the horror stories that are actually taking place. DO YOU KNOW THAT domestic abuse is up over 20% because of this pandemic. Do you know that I literally know a bunch realtors who know about abuse taking place and they cannot do anything to get the people into a different living situation? Do you know how many, many more people must be affected by unimaginable things because they cant get a place to rent? These are human beings that have serious situations, however small of big, but to deny them completely any solution? Is this real life? AND NOW WHATEVER RELIEF THEY COULD HAVE HAD could be extended for another 30 - 45 days? Oh, guys, it gets even better, a fantastic agent that I know well and have closed a few deals with, I respect this woman greatly, what did she do about this? She went to the supreme court and lawyered up to immediately suspend Wolf’s order that closed businesses deemed non-life-sustaining. They said the order and process by which the state granted exceptions violated their constitutional rights. And just YESTERDAY, MAY 7th, The U.S. Supreme Court refused to take action that could have reopened the real estate industry, when it denied a request to suspend Gov. Tom Wolf’s shutdown order. And then the nail in a lot of coffins, Today, Wolf Extends this ORDER until June 4th MINIMUM. SO here I am, watching the most respected real estate agents in the market, most of which I learned from, and NEW agents, who worked their tails off to get their licenses, and left salaried jobs within the past year to make it through their FIRST year of real estate, suffer. What do I do? THIS: 1. Math - Each AGENT IN NEED that meets the below characteristics would receive $5,000.00. 2. WE will use the money to help 100 agents. 3. 100 agents in need X $5,000.00 equals $500,000.00 4. Please, everyone, RECOMMEND AGENTS THAT MEET the following characteristics: A. Have been out of work since the shutdown began and have NO OTHER SOURCE OF INCOME. B. Spouse cannot be working. C. Can prove the need through explaining the situation D. If you have children, you receive deference. E. You must be in a RED COUNTY, UNABLE TO PRACTICE REAL ESTATE. F. We will spread the money across at least 10 - 20 franchises to keep it even. YES, this is a crazy goal, but I am sick of signing social media petitions, making Facebook comments, calling my senator, emailing the Governor, etc. Even 10 bucks is a solid donation and I want to guarantee that I will not receive one penny of this money and I want to get it to the people in need as fast as possible. I will admit that I have a few agents personally that I am doing this for, but that is why I set the bar so high, for the 7 suffering agents I want to help in my market, there are ten times more in the surround areas. I still love this business, we are going to make it through this, there is no way but through. We will survive and thrive. BIG CAVEAT - This is deathly VIRUS, WE must keep measures in place and practice proper social distancing, wear gloves, masks, etc. The real estate industry can work without human contact in many ways and the practices in other states should be followed, even more, stringent ones if needed to make sure this industry does not add to this pandemic. NOTES ON ME and My FIRM - Most, if not all of us have applied for unemployment but have not been approved. We have applied for other loans like the PPP, but have not received anything yet. I want to be super clear in that I will not receive any of this money and will use it only to support other real estate agents. NONE OF US (Meaning me, my teammates) ARE practicing real estate in person and we are using as many virtual tools as possible.
