Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame

As many of you know, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Annual Hall of Fame Banquet was cancelled this year. Despite the cancellation the Board of Govenors honored the financial award to the scholar-athletes of each school who were to be recognized at the banquet. These payments resulted in a cost of $4500.00. Our main source of revenue are the advertisements included in the banquet booklet as well as scholarship sponsorship from various businesses and individuals. This rev...enue was therefore lost resulting in a deficit this year of $5800.00. Recently, we sent a letter to our Life-Time Members asking them to consider making a donation to the Hall. The purpose of this post is to keep you informed of our efforts to continue to honor all our deserving athletes, coaches, organizations and inductees. Also, to ask you, if you are not currently a member, to consider becoming an annual or lifetime member. The Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame's Annual Banquet has officially been cancelled for this year. This unfortunate announcement is obviously due to the lingering effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. The Board of Governors believe it is our responsibility that all of our inductees and honorees get to have the full experience in front of all their family and friends. Therefore, this years class will be inducted at the 2021 Banquet scheduled for May 16th or 23rd at Indiana's Rustic Lodge. The exact date will be posted when finalized. We hope all will plan to attend and make it the best banquet that we could possibly have.

This year's banquet scheduled for May 17th has been postponed. A final decision on if and when we will hold the banquet will be made around June 1st. The Rustic Lodge, where we hold our banquet and a reoccurring Full Scholarship sponsor, is preparing Easter Dinners that can be ordered and picked up on Sunday. The Indiana County Sports Hall of Fame is pleased to announce this year's Special Honorees: Mr. Al Kovacik and Mr. Mike Sherry. Al Kovacik has been supporting youth sports in the borough of Blairsville and the surrounding area since he opened his business in 1981. Mike Sherry is the Founder and President of the Miracle League of Southwestern PA that opened for play in 2009. Both will be recognized, along with this year's Inductees, 18 Scholar Athletes and several other Honorees at the Annual Banquet to be held on May 17, 2020 at Indiana's Rustic Lodge. Tickets are now available from any Board Member and at the Indiana Gazette.
