We are excited to have Tamra Miller-Spence, MS, LPC, CCTP join In Process Counseling mid November! Working in the mental health field since 2014, Tamra has worked with clients experiencing anxiety, depression, domestic violence, relationship distress, trauma, dynamics related to sexual orientation & gender identity, anger, and self-harm. Pulling from her diverse training and experience, her approach to therapy is eclectic; not one model fits all. Tamra is passionate about in...corporating holistic healing into practice - focusing on the mind, body, and spirit connection. She hopes that others see the value in pursuing change for themselves - believing each person is worthy, lovable, and accepted. You can email Tamra with questions at [email protected] or schedule with her from our website: www.InProcessCounselingLLC.com. {Please note: Tamra is currently credentialled with Highmark and should be credentialled with Quest by mid-November. I have been enjoying Laura's presence at In Process and have enjoyed listening to her talk about her passion for Third Culture Kids and Adult TCKs. I am excited to continue to learn from her regarding the themes around the richness, challenges, griefs, and traumas associated with these unique experiences. Laura shares "My main specialty is Third Culture Kids and Adult TCKs. Being one myself, I have a deep understanding and connection to the TCK experience. It can be difficult... to express your experience as a TCK to your family and those around you. Especially if your experiences left you with grief or trauma. I extend to you a safe place to process your experience." Laura and I also share a passion to support mothers prioritize their own mental health throughout the intense years of early motherhood. Laura says, "I also focus on Maternal Mental Health Counseling. This is way too often overlooked in our culture and medical systems. As a mother myself, I understand that caring for your child is your top priority. But you are also worth being advocated for as well. I hope we can grow in strength and purpose together as you navigate the complexities of motherhood." If you desire to process either of these (or other topics) in therapy, Laura is currently accepting new clients for in person and telehealth sessions. She has some flexibility to try to meet your scheduling needs. TO SCHEDULE AN INTAKE WITH LAURA, Call 717-322-4474 or Email [email protected] {Self-Pay: $40 per therapy session}

As a therapist, I often talk with clients about coping with difficult emotions that well up in us. And I try to work with clients to recognize biological, psychological, social, and spiritual dynamics that contribute to their distress. I always want to acknowledge the importance of addressing the root issues, stressors, or dysfunction inside us AND in our external lives, outside ourselves. Sometimes these external or social stressors are more personal (like a damaging relati...onship, an unhealthy work environment, abusive interactions, past or ongoing trauma) and sometimes they are more societal or systemic (like racism, sexism, or poverty). To use a medical analogy, we don’t want to use the bandaid of soothing our emotions while keeping ourselves in situations that keep wounding deeply. Nor do we want to pretend that the injury itself is the problem rather than the object that keeps cutting through the skin. Ultimately, best case scenario, we find ways to take care of ourselves amid the difficulties of life, while at the same time addressing social dysfunctions and difficulties, respecting their impact in our lives. We work towards building a life, a support system, and community that supports our mental health. We set boundaries to reduce and hopefully eliminate toxicity in our current lives. We address past trauma that effects our present. We work against systemic problems that create incredible damage. I am reminded lately that these two things go hand it hand, we take care of ourselves and learn to cope with difficult emotions, in order to be able to address dysfunctions and difficulties in our lives. AND we address dysfunction and difficulties in our lives as a commitment to valuing and taking care of ourselves. Managing our stress in its many forms allows us to keep engaging in the process of rebuilding truer, more beautiful love, relationships, families, and nations.* *Quote from Glennon Doyle’s book Untamed, p122
