I’m going to call this a confidence tower. I was going to call it a fear tower but I don’t even want to utter that dirty F word! Some times when students are riding around on a thousand pound animal that has a mind of its own it’s easy to be overcome with fear! (Let’s be honest, most of us feel that way about the world right now) So I have the student take a moment, cry if they need to, and then we talk about what’s making them afraid. We name those things, and give the name...s to these rocks. Then we place the rocks somewhere beside the arena. The rocks are real, fear is real, it exists, but it doesn’t get to ride the horse with us! We can chose not to live under its power. So I set these rocks somewhere visible as a reminder to look to, that the fears are over there and we don’t have to carry them along!
