Meet Dianne and her Seeing Eye dog, Samantha! Dianne is an ITN member who frequently uses our transportation services to get to work. Dianne says: ITN Lehigh Valley makes it possible for me to live independently. Just imagine if your car is in the garage, all the inconveniences you experience; you can’t go shopping, you have to arrange a ride to go to work - It’s a massive inconvenience! Now imagine you never have the ability to drive. This is often common for seniors and pe...ople who are visually impaired. I am visually impaired and I can’t simply drive to the store. I have to rely on help from others. What ITN Lehigh Valley does is give me the ability to be independent! I can go to work, visit friends, and go to the store, just like someone who can drive. I don’t need to rely on friends and family which gives me equality with them. I can go anywhere, and on my terms. One final point about ITN Lehigh Valley is that the organization vets drivers, which makes me feel like I can be transported with safety. Please consider donating either your money or time to ITN Lehigh Valley. When you do, you will be helping someone find independence and meaning. Today’s ITN #destinationoftheday is 3rd & Ferry Fish Market in Easton! Every week, in an effort to support local small businesses, we’re giving a shoutout to a business our riders frequent or recently rode to. ITN drives seniors where they want, when they want, all over the #lehighvalley. It was our pleasure to drive multiple members to 3rd & Ferry recently to meet up for a family lunch! #supportsmallbusiness #supportlocal

According to the CDC, older drivers, particularly those aged 75+, have higher crash death rates than other adult age groups. Higher crash death rates among this age group are primarily due to increased vulnerability to injury in a crash, though age-related declines in vision and cognitive functioning, as well as physical changes, might affect some older adults’ driving abilities and make them more susceptible to a crash. ITNLehighValley keeps seniors safely independent by offering 24/7 transportation 365 days a year with NO destination restrictions within our 38-zip code service area. We provide rides when and where our members want them, from medical appointments to hair salons to restaurants and more! For more information, please visit www.itnlehighvalley.org. To become a member or a volunteer driver, give us a call at 610-419-1645.
