A virtual presentation on Wednesday, December 2, from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. will feature a special selection of works by notable woman authors from the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, as well as contemporary fiction and relevant extra-literary materials. Among the texts highlighted are Homegoing by Yaa Gyasi, Monday or Tuesday by Virginia Woolf, and The Awakening by Kate Chopin. These titles are available for research in the IUP Special Collections and University Archives in ...the University Libraries. Into the Archives: Women Writers brings together presentations by doctoral students Jamie Olrogge Polnau and Marquel Sherry, and English professors Michael Williamson and Lingyan Yang, who will present on the historical and contemporary contexts of the aforementioned works in the world of women’s literature. IUP Special Collections Librarian and University Archivist, Harrison Wick, will discuss selected rare books, including titles owned by IUP’s own Jane Leonard. A founding faculty member of Indiana State Normal School (IUP), Jane Leonard held the title of Preceptress, the equivalent of the vice president of Student Affairs, when our school was founded 145 years ago. All are welcome to attend our virtual discussion about women writers and the rare books available for research in the IUP Special Collections and University Archives. Into the Archives: Women Writers is a collaborative event brought to you by the IUP Department of English and the University Libraries.
