We are getting ready for an extremely cold and windy few days of weather. This is when pipes freeze and burst, possibly doing serious property damage. To do the most to prevent this, turn your heat up (74 degrees +) and leave your water running, both hot and cold, at all faucets. (Turn the hot on, to a steady drip, and then turn on the cold, till the stream is almost solid) It might cost you a few bucks, but considerably less than the alternative. Also, please make sure everybody in the house knows how to shut off the water to your house, at the pressure tank, or water meter. If you have any questions about any of this, please call or PM us.

Everybody please remember to unhook their hoses from their outside spigots if they are the frost free kind, or shut them off inside, and drain them out, if they are the regular kind. It is supposed to get very cold tonight! Any questions on this, or any other plumbing concern, please give us a call at 610-388-6141. Thanks!

Please make sure everyone in your house knows where and how to shut off your water. The valve is usually in the basement, next to the blue tank or the water meter on the pipe coming thru the wall. If a fixture or a pipe brakes, it could flood your house in a matter of minutes, and cost you thousands of dollars. If you have any questions about this, or any other part of your plumbing system, please contact us.

Another cold snap coming. Remember your pipes, Don't let them freeze. Bump up your heat, and leave problem areas water running, both hot and cold. It might cost a few bucks, but way less than the alternative. Also, make absolutely sure everybody in the house knows how to shut off the water to the house. Good luck, and please feel free to call with any questions.

During any cold spell, like the one coming, if your water stops working, like it might be frozen, turn up your heat, stay home, and or call your plumber. If you don't, it could thaw out and be a big leak, in a wall or ceiling, from a frozen split pipe. Any questions about this, please give us a call 610-388-6141.

If your garbage disposal, at the kitchen sink, stops grinding stuff up and just makes a buzzing noise, stop. Turn it off. It could just be jammed, so try this before doing anything else. On the bottom of the unit, right in the center, is a hole that fits an Allen wrench. (Your disposal came with one, but a regular one will do) Leave it turned off, stick the allen wrench in the hole and try to turn it back and forth. If you are lucky, this will free it up, and it will work again. If not, it will probably need replaced. Any questions, feel free to give us a call.

Cold morning tip: When scraping the windshield, be careful not to catch the antenna with the scraper thing. It can snap back and hit you in the (very cold) ear. This hurts bad enough to make your second cousin yell!

Plumbing tip---Do not use those big chlorine tablets or anything like that in your toilet tank. It will tear up all the rubber gaskets and flapper, and you will need to call the plumber. No body wants that. Please like the J & S page! Thanks!

Tough day for toilets. Never flush any kind of wipes (no matter what the package says) or quilted T/P. The plumber recommends only Scott single ply regular. Anything else, and you might be seeing him.

Pipe spiders, not often seen by the general public. This one put up quite a fight!
