Today, May 8th, 2020 many Pennsylvania regions or countries move into the yellow phase, allowing some businesses to reopen under strict regulations and guidelines. I know many of you, myself included, are excited about being able to go shopping, while following the guidelines. You may even plan to head to Peach Street to see if your favorite chain store is open. PLEASE don't forget about all the SMALL BUSINESSES that are reopening today!! Small business owners diligently wo...rked to get their business ready to reopen. Following strict & costly regulations and guidelines. Many small businesses did not qualify for loans or grants. Some people are still waiting on their PUA benefits & their stimulus check. Business owners care about their community and the health and safety of their customers. I earned my certificate for The BARBICIDE Certification Program and The BARBICIDE COVID-19 Certification Program. I care about my clients' health and safety.

I have decided not to sell gift certificates or to have clients prepay for their appointments. In my situation, this would be like a stimulus check. I would have a surge of income now, but not once clients came in for their prepaid appointments or to redeem their gift certificates. I appreciate the kind gestures. Governor Wolf announced Friday, May 1st, 2020 that all Personal Care services remain closed until the GREEN phase. I am regulated by The Pennsylvania State Board of Cosmetology. The Board may impose civil penalties and may refuse, revoke, refuse to renew or suspension licenses for gross incompetency or dishonest or unethical practices. It is illegal for me to make house calls. I would be at risk of losing my cosmetology license & salon license. I could be charged with a Class... II misdemeanor. It only takes one person calling the State Board of Cosmetology and turning me in. I would be investigated by the State Board. My PUA benefits would stop until the investigation was over. Which I have not received yet. No stimulus check either. I have to play by the state rules, trust me, I'm not happy about it. I'm just as upset and frustrated about having to stay closed as everyone else. I know everyone needs their hair done; I get it! But somebody forgot to tell the government that hair salons are essential!! Hairdressers are essential!! Hairdressers are good for your mental health!! Good mental health is essential!! If you look good, you feel good. If you feel good, you do good. I'm a firm believer that everything happens for a reason. I'm trying to stay positive. When I'm feeling sorry for myself, I remind myself how very lucky I am. I'm grateful for all the love & support I have from my family, friends & clients.
