It’s been a while! Thought it might be time for a #FridayIntroductions post. If you don’t know me personally, my name is Janna (my middle name is Mae, could you guess?) and I’m a full time Copywriter, freelance Copywriter/Copyeditor, cat mom, wife to my favorite human, lover of all things cheese and all types of pasta, and bad at thinking of interesting things to tell you about myself. I started this side biz because I love helping out my friends who want to tell the story of... their business in a way that represents who they are in the best way possibleand who doesn’t need more friends? (Or we don’t have to be friends, we can just work together. Copywriting Tip of the Week: Refining Your Mission Statement What’s your business all about? It can be very tempting to make your business’s goal very broadyou want to reach as many people as possible, right? You want to do all the thingsthe more things you do, the more complex your mission, the more attractive you’ll be to your potential clients? Actually, broad isn’t always good. A lot of the time, it’s confusing, especially when you’re in a business that not a lot of p...eople know they need or even know exists. And when you try to fit in all the details of what you can do, what you offer, and what it looks like, your might-have-been clients tune out before they even get to the end. That’s why the first tip I give about mission statements is get SPECIFIC and STAY SIMPLE. I’m talking one sentence, max 30 words if possible. Get to the root of who your business is and what it does. Make it so simple that someone who has no idea who you are or what you do can read it and say, Oh, that makes sense. I took this photo a few weeks ago as I was exploring Lancaster City with some friends from out of town and we stumbled across this little Swedish candy shoppe appropriately called Sweetish :) I love being a part of the Lancaster community and supporting other small businesses like janna mae co. Sweetish has the cutest storefront, and such an interesting selection of candy and small trinkets! It was adorable. This isn’t any type of paid promotion, I just honestly thought it was adorable, and this sign they have hanging in their place makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside.
