Double cleanse: cleaning your skin twice morning and night is essential for healthy skin. Why twice? The initial cleanse removes dirt, oil, makeup and the second cleanse allows the product to deeply penetrate your skin and actually do its job! 2. Toning: Toners are specialty products that absorb deeper into the skin and give a more thorough clean. They also sometimes have specific ingredients to treat skin concerns. These are some of my favorite toner specialty ingredients! Alpha and beta hydroxy acids (AHA and BHA) gently remove dead skin cells that can clog pores, improve sun-damaged skin and minimize dullness. Hyaluronic acid boosts hydration, seals in dewiness, and plumps skin to subtly treat fine lines. Rose water and green tea calms irritation and reduces redness with an anti-inflammatory effect. Vitamin E and C fight daily exposure to free radicals that can age your skin. 3. Serums: Serums are highly concentrated treatment solutions! Even if you don't have any "skin troubles" everyone can benefit from a serum! Here are some of my favorite serum ingredients! Hyaluronic acid to seal in hydration and strengthen the barrier function (the top layer of your skin) to prevent moisture loss. Vitamin C to help brighten dull skin and decrease dark spots with continued use. Retinol, vitamin B3, peptides to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, proteins in the body that help prevent lines and skin sagging. Colloidal sulfur, niacinamide to calm redness and irritation by decreasing inflammation, and improve acne with its antimicrobial effects. 4. Last but NOT least.... HYDRATE/MOISTURIZE! Arguably the most important step of any skincare routine! Moisturizing your skin is skin insurance. Even the most basic moisturizer will soften your skin.
