We received a terrific update on BLAZE (nka) Piper from her new paw parents! Piper went on her first road trip and first major hike to Ricketts Glenn State Park a couple of weeks ago. She managed a 4 hour car ride and averaged 7-9 miles a day hiking . In her new mom's words......"We think she may be part goat because she had to jump on every rock and log on the trail. Lol. She also likes to carry a stick with her at all times. Thank you again for letting us adopt her".... Piper is starting obedience training soon in the hope that her new Mom (who is a teacher) can take her to class each day as her classroom assistant! LOKI is just a year old and already proving himself to be an adaptable pup, he loves being with me on The Farm, he is into everything and up for anything, he is simply looking for a human to guide him through the next phase of his life. Loki is craving the company of a human, he looks to me for direction constantly and he will need that from his new family. Once in a home with structure and a schedule this boy is going to blossom, for a year old pup his leash manners are... exemplary, he is constantly checking in with me to make sure I am on the other end of the leash . We don't know what breed Loki is, but if I had to hazzard a guess, I would say he is part Rhodesian Ridgeback. His build, coat color and the traits of his personality; intelligence, fierce loyalty, protective nature, mischievous, sensitive and agile sway me this way. Remember GUNNER now OLIVER our Craigslist puppy save from Nov 4th last year? Here he is happy and healthy checking in . His Mom fostered a couple of puppies from our recent rescue situation - Mama Dog Fanny. Holly Lawrence thank you for giving up your days off to love and care for them, we were able to save them from certain death. FANNY and puppies came to me 2 days ago. Mama's and puppies are definitely not my wheelhouse, but when in Rescue you can't say no . Mama Fanny is emaciated at 29lbs, flea infested and has toe nails embedded into her paw pads. She was living under a house with her litter of 8 week old pups and another Mama dog and her pups. It was a bad bad situation peeps....we persuaded their 'owners' to give up all the puppies and Fanny, unfortunately we could not get them to sur...render the other Mama . Despite everything she is an amazing Mama and has the sweetest disposition . After I put out an to the local Community and other Rescues everyone came together to make this possible. This is Rescue at its finest and shows that no matter what our differences, animal welfare can bring out the very best in all of us. A huge thank you to my friends and volunteers Rose Hale and Tracy Kohlmeyer Cowles and Holly Lawrence who are currently sharing the care of Mama and puppies and to S.N.A.R.R Animal Rescue Northeast Rescue Dogs Rock NYC for stepping up to help place the puppies in adoption/foster homes throughout their network . Mama Fanny will be staying as a Jennys Dream Rescue girl. Fanny will be going for her wellness check and shots on December 9th and will be spayed as soon as she is in good health. Her vetting is going to cost $700-$800 and we have several other medical expenses to cover in the coming weeks - Rocco's HW treatment, BBs spay to name a few - so if you are able to donate to help Mama Fanny's recovery we would be so grateful.
