JERSEY SHORE AREA JOINT WATER AUTHORITY 10 % Voluntary Water Reduction by all water users A public service announcement from the manager of the Jersey Shore Area Joint Water Authority. The stream flows have dropped off very fast in this latter part of August and going into September. The Authority is currently supplying 45% of the daily water produced from the Pine Creek Well & 55% from the Larry’s Creek Plant. Both Larry’s Creek and Pine Creek have dropped off to near rec...ord lows. The Authority is requesting a voluntary water reduction of 10% by all the water users in the system. Eliminate any unnecessary water usage in the following areas: Prohibited Non-Essential Water Uses 1. The non-commercial use of hoses, sprinklers or other means for sprinkling or watering of shrubbery, trees, lawns, plants, vines, gardens, vegetables, flowers or any other vegetation. 2. The non-commercial use of water for washing automobiles, trucks, trailers, trailer houses or any other type of mobile equipment. 3. The washing of streets, driveways, parking lots, service station aprons, office buildings, exteriors of homes, sidewalks, apartments or other outdoor surfaces. 4. The operation of any ornamental fountain or other structures making a similar use of water. 5. The use of water for filling swimming or wading pools 6. The operation of any water-cooled comfort air-conditioning, which does not have water-conserving equipment. 7. The use of water for flushing sewer lines and fire hydrants, except, with the approval of the Regulatory Agency or the Water Authority, when deemed necessary for the satisfactory maintenance of public health standards. 8. The use of fire hydrants by all public and private agencies, except as necessary for actual fire fighting or protection purposes. This restriction includes testing fire apparatus and fire department drills.
