In this time of tribulation I feel the need to make a business statement in regards to the Black Lives Matter movement and say that I am here to voice my support. I'd also encourage everyone to read MLK's "I Have a Dream" Speech, if you have not lately, and find a space in your heart to open yourself up to empathy and understanding. During my first bout in college with the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, my speech class was given an assignment to write about a historical ...speech which we found moving. I couldn't think of anything I ever found dear to my heart. So, JUST because it was famous and was all I could think of at the time, I randomly Picked Martin Luther King's "I Have a Dream." As I wrote my paper, I felt so surprised as I found myself moved to tears, several times. I couldnt believe how insanely moving and thought provoking this speech would be and how sincerely my heart would bleed from it (now that I was old enough to fully understand it) but had not read or heard it in YEARS. It still brings me to tears to this day. To add, the thought of fear that a parent must have for their child's well being and safety, all because of the color of their skin, is truly horrific. It makes me sick to my stomach that anyone has to live through this type of fear.
