The JFS 2021 #passover food drive was a great success today! Lots of chickens, potatoes, carrots, onions, yams, apples and oranges were given out to local families. Also a big thank you to our event sponsor the Scranton JCC for without their support this event would not have been possible.

Today is National COVID-19 Day which marks the 1-year anniversary of the World Health Organization declaring COVID-19 a global pandemic. It is a national day of observance and service to help one another navigate our collective grief, encourage each other, and embrace hope for what is ahead.

Election day is Tomorrow November 3rd! Participating in elections is one of the key freedoms of American life. Many people in countries around the world do not have the same freedom, nor did many Americans in centuries past. No matter what you believe or whom you support, it is important to exercise your rights. Some things to keep in mind:... Bedrock Technology raised $1,070 from their Electronics Recycling Event held on October 17th. Thank to you Adam Basalyga, Colby Kalinowski and the entire Bedrock team for their ongoing support of JFS. Today we said goodbye to a great man and community leader. Louis Kahanowitz was the owner of Crystal Soda Water Co. in Scranton and is a former board member of Jewish Family Service. Throughout his life he was heavily involved in the Jewish community. May his memory be a blessing.

World Mental Health Day is observed on October 10th each year. The goal of this day is to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and to mobilize efforts in support of mental health. It's an opportunity for those of us working with people who have mental health issues to talk about what needs to be done to make mental health care a reality for everyone.

Thanks to David Elliot Poultry Farm and the Fink family JFS was able to provide over 25 families Kosher chickens for the Rosh Hashanah holiday. Families were also offered a free knitted item personally knitted by a JFS supporter and donor. Thanks to the Scranton JCC for getting us setup for our drive thru no contact service!
