Currently sitting in my living room with the screen door open. No background noise, just the sound of the birds and sweet springtime. Thinking about our upcoming wedding season and our past seasons. Sometimes I still can’t believe this is where my heart’s at, where my passion is. I’d be shocked if you would have told me as a kid that this is what I’d be aching to learn more about and what filled many of our weekends with. I have so many goals and exciting ideas within this business. I’m so excited for our 2021 season to officially begin and to see what new things I learn, what wedding moments make me laugh and cry. Hey, even what films will stretch me and challenge me. How to be a better editor, storyteller, filmmaker. Thanks for joining in on this journey with Jensen and me. We’re truly thrilled you’re here.

Things I learned in the first two years of our business. 1. Don’t be afraid to adapt often. We’ve changed things a lot since our first couple months. Our contracts don’t look the same as they did, we have a client management software now, we ask different questions to our couples than we did for our first meeting, and Jensen’s probably changed our website 100 times now. But those changes are good. Every phone call and wedding day are new learning experiences. We’re constant...ly growing and the wedding industry is always changing things up a little. 2. Speak up. As an introvert, this one was hard for me. It wasn’t always easy (and still isn’t some days) for me to have phone calls with couples or start conversations with vendors on wedding days. Or if I wanted a certain shot but was too shy to ask for it, afraid of interrupting what was happening. But I worked at it and as I did, it’s gotten easier and I’m thankful for those times I’ve made connections with people, or gotten the shot I envisioned. 3. Invest. While I don’t want to give any financial advice and I just want to speak on personal experiences.. we needed to invest in our business and I’m glad we did. It paid off. We spent a lot on the right equipment, music licensing, advertising. But it’s helped us get to the place we are now. And it helped me (and I think, others) to take this seriously. This wasn’t just a fun hobby, we were diving in . 4. It’s okay to say no. We knew from the start we didn’t want to overwork ourselves in this business. Since the beginning, we decided on a monthly booking limit. We wanted to give our couples the experience they deserve without exhausting ourselves in the process. While this business is a huge part of our life, it is not our entire life. And saying no, means we can be happier about the things we say yes to. 5. Owning a business has a lot of behind the scenes moments which often go unnoticed to most. But the reward is great. Between advertising, website, pricing, client calls, contracts, equipment, editing, client management, etc. there are so many pieces to a business. And that was a learning experience in itself. But it’s all brought me so much joy.

Who says you can only have one dress? I’ve been seeing more brides have a second dress they change into somewhere through the day, often times during dancing. Tell me, which side do you fall on? One or two dresses? I personally had one and wanted as much time in that as possible. I’d love to hear different opinions!

There's something about those real and raw moments of a wedding day that just make me so grateful for videography. Between the moment Lewis sees Jaclyn for the first time, and the emotional words from the bride's dad. Don't get me wrong, photos are one of the most incredible gifts we can have. But they do leave out part of the story and that's where the importance of photo AND video come into play. If I had to summarize Saturday’s wedding into one minute... it would be this. Not too often that we get to put together a full length trailer like this but I can say I enjoyed every second of it. Gets me even more excited to work on this highlight film! Vendors:... Venue: Bear Mill Estate Photographer: Sarah Gehman DJ: ProVolve Entertainment HMU: ANTHOLOGY Salon + Barber See more

Jensen + Katrina here, the two faces behind J + K Film Co. We love movies (maybe why we love wedding videography so much, hehe), the rolls from Texas Roadhouse, goofing around for no good reason, and music - lots of music. On a more serious, maybe sappy, note, we also love this business. The moments we experience and capture, the films we get to create for couples to share on for years to come, the people and families we get to meet, and what’s it’s done to strength our relationship. We love getting to experience all of that and more with each other. What do you love? We would *love* to know

Who else was the last to know they were falling for their person? I hear it often that friends or a sibling or a parent knew it before the couple did. And man, I love hearing about that realization when the two found out for themselves that everyone around them was right

To say we were blessed by this family and this evening is a complete understatement. Debbie and Ken truly have made an incredible impact on their family and that was very evident that evening. It was an honor to work on this to tell the story of these two and their legacy. I cannot recall the amount of times I've reflected on what was said that evening as family members shared. What valuable lessons to take on and lead out in my life and my marriage. I hope as you watch this, you feel as blessed as I was that evening getting to witness this family.
