Today 12/8/2020 Attention all Gladiators!!! A local community member needs our support! 16 year old Avery Gretz was recently diagnosed with a rare chronic illness called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome. ... On Tuesday, December 8th Jo-Lynns will be donating a portion of all sales between 5:00pm-8:00pm to help Avery with the costs of travel/medical expenses she will be experiencing. See Avery’s story below: I am 16 and I have many chronic illnesses. I have a connective tissue disorder, dysautonomia, MCAS, GI issues, and even more! I have had 7 inpatient stays, just in the summer of 2020 (and you thought hiding from COVID was bad) I have had 18 feeding tubes that went in through my nose (15 of those I placed by myself at home), and now I have a surgical feeding tube called a G tube. I have undiagnosed gastrointestinal issues, and they make it hard for me to keep food and water down. I need lots and lots of water to maintain my dysautonomia, 100oz! The feeding tubes made it possible for me to get the hydration I needed, but didn’t solve the GI issues. Avery will need doctors who specialize in: Ehlers-Danlos Sydrome Dysautonomia/POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome) Gastointestinal Issues Chronic Pain And these specialists and programs are not in the Pittsburgh area so significant travel will be necessary due to the rareness of this illness. For those wanting to help with the financial burden that Avery’s family is going to endure, a Paypal account has also been set up in addition to the fundraiser at Jo-Lynns.
