Manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index Grows for Tenth Straight Month March was a good month for manufacturing, and according to the Institute for Supply Management (ISM) the manufacturing Purchasing Manager’s Index reached 64.7% in March. This growth makes March the tenth month in a row that the industrial economy has seen growth since the steep decline experienced in April 2020 due to COVID-19. New Hires in Manufacturing Doubled in March After adding 18,000 new jobs in February, manufacturing more than doubled this number in March by adding 53,000 new jobs. This is a positive sign for the manufacturing industry, especially compared to the 10,000 manufacturing jobs lost in January. The next 3 years will see a rise in US Wholesale Trade of Durable goods with ITR Economics predicting a sustainable rise of 5.6% in 2021.
