Individual taxes (1040) and C Corps (1120) are due on 7/15. If you would like us to file your return, we will gladly file an extension for you and file your return AFTER 7/22. No exceptions, loans, mortgages, scholarships, or grants will expedite the process. We aren't even accepting expedited fees until AFTER 7/22.(Because we all had an extra 3 months this year and it's been rough for accountants too.) Partnerships (1065) and S Corps (1120S) are already past due. No autom...atic extension was granted for them. We can still file. The longer you wait, the higher the penalty. We may be able to assist in getting SOME penalties abated (removed) as an added service. We WILL NOT be doing any appointments or consultations 7/15 or 7/16. It's my anniversary and son's birthday. We will resume operations on our summer schedule beginning 7/23. Our extension cut off is 7/14 at 3pm EST. If we don't confirm it, we didn't receive it. Comment below if you would like the link to get started. A deposit is required. Or, you can pay to just have an extension filed.

As we get down to the final days of tax season, here are some of my usual reminders (in condensed format because tax season was extended 3 months, Rona beat me down, and I've been saying it 90 extra days this year). So...here it goes... Tax returns that have not been signed will not be filed. Tax returns with missing information cannot be filed.... "The same as last year" is not an amount. If you don't know, your tax professional does not know and they are not allowed to create a number for you. This response usually results in $0 deduction. Charitable donations and mileage figures are to be provided based on actual figures from the taxpayer who should have written support. Please see my point above regarding $0 deduction. Tax returns that have not been paid for will not be filed!! Skipping the deposit or this stage and being unresponsive to invoices well...please see points 1 and 2....will not be filed. We love this but do not do it for free. If you are missing any information, we can file an extension for you. Your return will be prepared in the order a complete file was received. Your wait time may start over. Your info must go back through the process every time. Uploading docs in multiple directions will probably delay your return. (It's frustrating) Saving 99 documents in 99 files and uploading all with generic names will in no case be opened on a Monday or Friday. Please label your files or at least scan in one document. Please do not send documents one at a time. You receive a checklist to avoid this. This practice will most certainly have you placed on extension until we are sure we have everything and can file a complete tax return. Read your tax return! Watch the video or live explanation. Be sure you are ok with what you are signing. It is ultimately your tax return. Understand your tax professional has no control over the IRS schedule to answer calls, open mail, or process any type of stimulus payment. Their number is 1-800-829-1040. Please call them with all questions concerning stimulus payments. Check and respond to emails. If you can't respond at the moment, please set reminders for yourself. Did I mention tax season is 3 months longer this year? If we ask a question by email, please reply by email. It's for good reason and to best serve you. If your accountant requests statments or document's to do your bookkeeping, please give it them. Getting caught up during tax season is a sure fire way to be placed on extension. We want to close tax season out successfully and expeditiously but we will not sacrifice speed for quality. Tax planning begins well before the tax deadline. Let's plan to be prepared next year.

How to handle IRS letters.... If you receive a letter from the IRS, please READ IT! If you do not understand how to reply, contact your original preparer or a CPA, EA, or attorney. Only they can represent you before the IRS.... The dates they give are NOT suggestions. Failure to reply is often interpreted as agreement with IRS conclusions...which are not always correct.
