What a difference a year makes! One year ago today we closed our stores in light of Covid-19. 7/20/20 Update: Because of escalating logistical issues with shipping, we can no longer mail our chocolates. We apologize for any inconvenience and look forwa...rd to offering this service again in the future. For decades we have used USPS Priority Mail to deliver our chocolates in a timely, reliable, cost effective manner. In light of Covid-19, USPS is now experiencing logistical issues that are delaying delivery times. Packages that should take 1-3 days for delivery are now taking days, even weeks to get to our customers a catastrophic difference when shipping temperature sensitive chocolates. (Note: we've done testing with all other major carriers and experienced similar delays. Additionally, while overnight/air service may yield better results, they become extremely cost prohibitive) We continue to assess our options on a daily basis, but unfortunately, until further notice, our mail order business (www.JoshEarlyCandies.com) is temporarily discontinued. We will return this service only when we can be assured our chocolates are being delivered in the impeccable manner in which they leave our store. We appreciate your patience and apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. Lehigh Valley Center for Independent Living (LVCIL) celebrated our 30th Anniversary and hosted our 2020 Independent Living Awards Celebration on June 11 as a vi...rtual event. Josh Early Candies earned The Chester Bob Collyer Key to Living Award! This award is presented in memory of Chester "Bob" Collyer, who was the first Treasurer of the LVCIL Board and a father of two children with Cystic Fibrosis. Bob and his wife were stalwart advocates for persons with disabilities. The award is given to an individual or organization which had made an outstanding contribution toward promoting disability awareness and advancing opportunities for people with disabilities in all areas. As a major employer in the Lehigh Valley and a significant supporter of LVCIL, Josh Early Candies has done so much to support us over the years We consider ourselves so fortunate to have developed the Chocolate & Wine event at Josh Early, complete with backroom tours. Josh Early has been helping us plan a future endeavor, and we know great things will be ahead. Thank you Josh Early! 5/7/2020 Update: When we closed our doors on March 25, 2020 we summarized an infinitely complex set of circumstances by committing to the simple philosophy: do ...what is right and exceed the standard on every level. Since then, we’ve had an unbelievable outpouring of support from our staff, our customers and the community as a whole. Our entire family thanks you, as it's been a driving force of encouragement through these tough times. Over the last 6 weeks, we’ve been meeting daily to assess our next steps and are happy to share the following bullet points: -Beginning Monday May 11th we are bringing back a limited staff to clean both our Allentown and Bethlehem stores from top to bottom. -The week of May 18th we will start a limited production schedule to begin making our delicious chocolates once again. Our famous tagline, Chocolates made fresh will be an understatement! -It is our goal to open our Allentown store on Friday May 22, 2020 in some capacity. As we navigate safety protocols, evolving social norms and gather relevant feedback, we will determine to what extent we will open our retail stores, curbside pickup and our website. (exact date and logistics of our Bethlehem store TBD) -We will continue to scale our model and ultimately get back to normal as safety and quality standards warrant. Today marks the end of our bittersweet Easter season as our #YouveBeenEgged campaign comes to a close. We made our last delivery to the Children's Hospital of ...Philadelphia and fittingly spent the drive back home reflecting on what a special, oddly blessed season this was. Yesterday was the first Good Friday of our company’s history without a customer through our doors yet we managed to move a record amount of chocolates. We did not make a single sale in April yet we feel more accomplished than ever. Safe to say we are part of the entire nation’s mourning of life as we knew it or an Easter season that could have been but we are also left with an overwhelming sense of gratitude for our family, friends and community. As nontraditional as this season was, a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone who helped make it happen. Thank you to our dedicated staff who never flinched throughout all of the chaos. Thank you to our loyal customers who emailed, texted, and messaged us their support. Thank you to the community organizations that helped distribute our candies all across the Lehigh Valley and beyond. Thank you to the doctors, nurses, volunteers and countless heroes working tirelessly to keep us safe through it all. We wish everyone a safe, blessed Easter and look forward to making candy and opening our doors as soon as it is safe to do so.
