FAT LOSS! Where to start?
Ethan is getting strong and his back is building up incredibly well! 40 added pounds to these pull-ups. #backworkout #gym #privatestudio #jhf #lats #arms #pullups #strong #kettlebell #weightbelt #gains
Today’s lunch thought! You could eliminate all the foods you like, eat an extremely restrictive diet, do some wild workout program, and lose weight. OR... You could work out a few times a week, go on some walks, reduce your intake of processed food, eat some protein & veggies, sleep and lose weight. One way is much more fun and sustainable. Consistency over perfection!
NY CHEESECAKE!!! At MY gym lol #trainer #nutrition #treats #jumprope #squats #gym #privatestudio #gains #newyork #cheesecake #jhf
Farmers walks for Emma G! Fantastic movement for power, core stability and the posterior chain!
Deadlifts, chalk and the sun! Hard to beat it! Get outside today!
A thought for this upcoming week after the holiday: I hope you enjoyed time with family/friends this past weekend! At the end of the day, that’s what holidays do, bring people together. I hope you had your favorite cakes, pies, chocolates and more! One day of bad food doesn’t make you lose your progress or even make you a bad person. (That may sound extreme but some people may put that much pressure on themselves to be perfect. )... Chocolate and sweets are just that.... chocolate and sweets! Enjoy them and move on! That’s the fun part, it’s not life or death... It’s sweets! Now, get back on track with that food and get back into the gym or get moving! It’s a new week! Let’s get after it! - Josh
Just a thought for the day. Losing weight using cardio and restrictive fad-dieting as your primary vehicle is almost certainly going to be less enjoyable and effective than using resistance training, eating enough protein, and managing your calories.
A thought for this upcoming week! Whether your goal is weight loss, muscle gain, or improving your health, it’s *almost* always better to: Embrace a long-term approach.... Learn from slip-ups/mistakes. Optimize for sustainability. Tailor the plan to your life, not necessarily your life to the plan. Get some sun today! Have a great one.
Let’s change some mindsets, shall we? Instead of FEWER carbs, FEWER fats, FEWER calories, FEWER meals... Try MORE protein, MORE veggies, MORE water, MORE sleep, MORE movement, and MORE patience.... Learn to love the process, this is what elicits the results we are ALL looking for! We all have different goals. Myself included. The process to achieve those goals, however, remains pretty straightforward!
When You hear someone say "eat less, move more" (way to broad) It should be stated something similar to this: Find a few active things you like that encourage progression and pair them with mindful eating, prioritizing whole foods + protein, while being kind & patient as you navigate the very real challenge of changing your body.... Hope this helps!
Keep this in mind as we head into our week! Nobody loses weight linearly. No matter how accurate the deficit. Stepping on the scale and expecting it to go down every time is unrealistic. Much like expecting to be stronger every single... Time we workout. Yes, a deficit is required to lose body-fat, but a ton of things influence your WEIGHT day in-day out. And remember, if you’ve had a couple snacks over the weekend, pleaseeeeee don’t beat yourself up. That’s life. Enjoy them and get right back on track!
Train to be STRONG, not skinny. Eat to be NOURISHED, not thin. Workout to BUILD, not burn.... Work to find BALANCE & SUSTAINABILITY. You have just one body. Direct your effort and energy into taking care of it, building it up, and making it strong.
Exercise is more than a tool to help you lose weight. Food is more than something that makes you gain weight. Don’t mortgage your relationship with either just to look a certain way. Even if you reach your goal, eventually it will slip through your fingers.
When in doubt, let kindness and compassion guide you. And do not be afraid to fail.
In 2021 let's make a point to: Talk more about nutrition, and less about diets. Focus on building muscle and strength, not just losing weight.... Shift the focus from your weight to your health. Get away from "toned" and "slim thicc" and towards "strong", "fit", and "confident".
It begins tomorrow! The new JHF gym will be open at 5 am for our first session! Lots of additions will be added through time, such as new turf, machines, and etc. This has been a dream of mine for years and I can’t wait to get started! The new address is: 362 Sand Hill Road Greensburg, PA ... 15601 For those of you training this week, I’ll see you soon! If you’re looking for private 1 on 1 or small group group personal training, feel free to message me anytime or share this post with friends and family! Thank you all for being on this journey with me, now let’s get started!
The pursuit of better physical health/appearance should ENHANCE your mental health, not DAMAGE it. Connect more closely with discipline, consistency, and confidence. Don't cave to comparison, negativity, and expectations.... Be 1% better than YOU were yesterday. Every day.
What do I do to make my life easier when it comes to food and prepping it? Here you go!
Hey everyone! Here’s a client spotlight, if you will! These pictures are about 9 months apart. Ethan has put in a TON of work, in and out of the gym and I’m very proud of him! Can’t wait to update you all again on even more progress.
Want results? give me patience over perfection. give me meticulous over motivated.... give me constructive over destructive. leverage your strengths, don’t make excuses about your weaknesses. always remember WHY you started and WHY your goal is important to you!
2021 is right around the corner. 42 days away. Anything that you’ve highlighted, anything you want to do/accomplish/make part of your identity in 2021 is worth working towards in 2020.... It will require the same effort and energy on 1/1/21 as it will on 11/20/20. Don’t wait.
