Big news out of the PA Supreme Court today, restoring our a constitutional rights at preliminary hearings. This is a win for everyone.
I just won another Restitution challenge at the Superior Court, saving my client from paying money he should not have been ordered to pay in the first place. By my count I am 4 for 4 in recent challenges to restitution on appeal. I might be getting good at this!
Fellow small business owners / sole proprietors, here's what you need to know for the Payroll Protection Program. Applications start Friday April 3.
A good summary of what we know for individuals.
The Question of the Week is: Do I have to exchange my child with the other parent during the Emergency? Short answer: Yes. Follow your court order. Longer answer: Use good judgment. Talk to the other parent/party. If someone in your household is sick, follow the CDC isolation guidelines. You should already be self-quarantining. If someone does become sick, the entire household must quarantine. Discuss this all with the other side ahead of time so you aren’t trying to work i...t out and care for yourself and others. When you have custody, STAY HOME. No outings, no malls, no restaurants, no excursions. No visits with friends and relatives. You have one job, and that is to FLATTEN THE CURVE. So stay home. If all else fails the courts are available on an emergent basis, but now is the time to be a parent and make the right choices for your children.
In response to guidance from the CDC and our clients’ concerns about the COVID-19 Pandemic, we are now offering Virtual Consultations, including telephone and video conferencing, to continue to serve your legal needs during this emergency. Contact us for details. We will work remotely starting March 16 through March 27, at which time we will re-evaluate. We are committed to representing our clients during this time, and are coordinating with the courts to ensure our clients’ rights and interests are protected during this unprecedented event.
Why yes, we do have a train!
Starting to look festive here.

Must Have for the #LawCat.
We've been informed that the Centre Daily Times will no longer deliver print editions via mail to out-of-town readers. I can't find anything about it on the website, but we confirmed it today on behalf of one of our incarcerated clients who's subscription had abruptly stopped without notice. We are disappointed. This was a critical lifeline back to the home community for a number of my clients. With limited access to the Internet, they will no longer be able to keep up with news and events. Serving a state prison sentence is hard enough. I plan to raise this issue with the Pennsylvania Prison Society and with the Centre Daily Times itself.
