Got some new signs at my favorite butcher shop. Stop by and grab some locally sourced meat for the grill.

Today, our 2018 Young Cooks learned a lot about food traditions from one of the best: Sayda Diaz of the spectacular Guante Family Restaurant LLC in Mifflintown, Pennsylvania. Everything at Guante Family Restaurant is made from scratch and tastes wonderful. Go taste for yourself!

I dropped by Hunter's Run Nursery today. Maggie has all kinds of starters: pumpkins, tomatoes, and even sunflowers. She also carries some of the most unusual herbs I have ever seen. She also has a self service produce stand. Expect to find tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, sweet corn and sweet potatoes during the appropriate time of the year. Good people and good food. Nursery is open Thursday, Friday, and Saturday. Take 75 in Port Royal to 74. You can't miss it.

The 2017 Community Cookshops kick off tomorrow (Tuesday) night. Come out to learn how to make strawberry jam, you may even get a taste.

Dropped into check out Tri-Valley Farmer's Market this morning. Iddo had Cherries and said peaches are coming in 3-4 weeks. Stop by from 9 to 1 on Thursdays and Saturdays for some farm fresh produce.

I stopped by to visit my friends at the Sunrise Farm Market in Downtown Lewistown. You never know what they will have available. Stop in and say hello.

The farmer's markets and farm stands are starting to open here in the valley. Now that I have gotten everything planted. I will start making visits to see what is going on at all our favorite places to get fresh local produce.
