Happy puppy day to all of my grooming pups as well as my own fur babies

I’d just like to say Thank You to all of my clients and their fur babies. These past 8 months have been difficult for so many. Thank you for your generosity and also for your patience this year. I know that so many pups need their regular spa day just to stay maintained and healthy. I am grateful that I have so many wonderful families that keep letting me come back and care for their beloved pet. My family and I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. . Stay safe and well this holiday season.

You may wonder what happens to the parents of all those puppies when they can no longer produce. Some of them are killed, some are traded to other breeders, so...me are sent to auction, and the lucky ones end up in rescue. Lets talk about the auctions. Dog auctions are common in the puppy mill industry, and are particularly prevalent within Amish communities. These auctions usually have 100-450 dogs of all ages listed for sale. They are sold in an auction-style format, to the highest bidder. The dogs are cataloged before the sale by number and bidders may view the dogs before the sale starts. Once the sale begins, the viewing barn is closed and the dogs are brought out in groups of four and the bidding begins. The dogs are lined up on a table usually four at a time. The auctioneer starts the bidding, highlighting the ages of the dogs, if they are in heat or not, if they are proven breeders, good mothers, or if they produce large litters. The auctioneer will say anything to sell the dog for the highest price. The dogs are sold as is and most are sold with chronic untreated painful conditions such as ear infections, rotten teeth, urinary tract infections, sores on their feet, mastitis, and sometimes worse. Although it is important to stop these dogs from going into worse situations, some rescues spend tens of thousands of dollars "buying" dogs from auctions. This doesnt work. At that point the rescue is contributing to the puppy mill industry. At one Ohio auction, the auctioneer was overheard telling a breeder "you better get busy and breed more dogs!" because a breed specific rescue spent thousands buying all the dogs of that breed.
