Chef Carlos / Feed The Hood Running with Donald Knocking out mile 9 of my #GHPMILEADAY I’m dedicating to Carlos Antionne Thomasof Feed The Hood and Confluence... Catering. In the generational struggle for progress and equal access that Black folks have been fighting, its people like Carlos at grassroots who take matters into their own hands that help keep things moving forward. And during another dark moment in America, here’s some light. He started Feed The Hood in 2016 as an initiative to do exactly what the name states, feed the hood. Here in Pittsburgh, many neighborhoods are in food deserts where access to full grocery stores, let along with with healthy foods, is rare. With teams of volunteers and supporters he’s worked to be able to provide food as best as possible. During this time of COVID shutdowns, he has operated out of Community Forge as well as on the Hill District to distribute food to families in need and over the last 11 weeks given out THOUSANDS of meals to families.
