Started shearing today. Jeremy wanted to try a new method he’s been watching on YouTube. He pretty much rocked it. Valka and Dorothy are ready for warm weather now. Two down, 20 or so to go .

Lost this beautiful lady a few hours ago. No idea what was wrong, amazing vet didn’t know, we tried. We tried. This was Pru, she wasn’t with us very long but I was pretty fond of her and she warmed up to me pretty quickly. I was with her and she didn’t die alone. Losing an animal sucks, it sucks big time friends! I will wipe my tears, get some sleep, and in the morning I will tend to my flock. It was a pleasure, Pru, I’ll see you later.

These rescue sheep are the sweetest animals ever!! I know they were in pretty rough shape, and some are a bit on the skinny side. I have absolutely no doubt that the lady spent time with these guys and gals. Sheep don’t get this friendly in a few weeks. I mean, they’re lovey with complete strangers. It’s wonderful, but I can’t help feel a little empathy for the previous owner. It’s obvious she loved them. Anyways, I’m working on naming a few.

Sneak peek of our day yesterday! 18 absolutely beautiful Romeldale/CVMs picked up from a farm rescue service, on their way back to healthy. This is not my husbands shear job, but, from what I gather these poor sheep had over 2 years worth of growth which was matted and filthy. Some are pretty skinny, and we’re working on that, one has a crooked back issue, and one sweet girl is 15 and blind. Overall, they’re not in horrible shape. Best part, they’re all super super tame and sweet, even all 4 rams. Stay tuned for updates and naming of these beautiful creatures.

Matilda finished up our lambing season yesterday. Unfortunately, Finn, did not make it. He was very weak and never did stand on his own. We worked with him all day, giving him some meds and nutrients, holding mama and holding him up to drink. Poor Matilda, she did so good and we all tried, it just wasn’t meant to be. We also added a beautiful little Romeldale ewe yesterday. Orlagh instantly fit right in. Welcome beautiful girl, soon the fence will be up and you can be on pasture.
