We love to help people stay in their homes longer and help to make their environment more visitable and accessible so that their home can be a place they can live in and love for a long time. Here we installed a zero entry shower and a trench drain along with grab bars to make this shower very easy to use for people with very different abilities. How could we help you make your house a home for you now and in the years to come?

This stunning clean black and white bathroom has ample space to move around and multiple grab bars strategically placed so that it is a safe space for mobility assistance.

What makes a home a place you can stay for the long term. Our goal is always to help our clients make their homes a place that ages well with them. In this picture you see the bench seat that is both inside and outside the shower. A seat or enough space to add a portable shower seat makes the shower space usable and safe for a much longer time. Another beautiful example of how aging in place doesn't have to be institutional. Here the trench drain allows for barrier free access to the shower area. If you do not want grab bars now we recommend blocking be installed so that grab bars can easily be installed at a later day. Safely staying in your home as you age or experience temporary or permanent injury can be difficult. At KT Highland both Jean and Andrea are Certified Aging In Place Specialists. We love to help people make their homes more accessible and visitable so that houses can stay homes for our clients for as long as possible. We would love to help you live independently in your home too. This type of thinking in design is not just for aging. Maybe you have children who participate in sports and have had injuries related to those activities. An accessible design can also help aging parents feel welcome in your home. We would love to help you.

Some of you may know this but others do not. Jean Buchen loves gardening. She raises heirloom tomatoes and saves the seeds year after year to plant again the next year. She also has a large composter and all of her food waste goes back into the soil in her small garden plots. This year her tomatoes and peppers that she planted from seed did remarkably well and she was able to fully stock her garden and give away some of her extra plants. So not only does she design kitchens and bathrooms but she uses her own kitchen extensively to preserve the spoils of her garden. If you ever get the chance ask her about her garden she will have so much to share.

We hope everyone is doing well during this scary, frustrating time. We are cautiously back to work. Jean is taking zoom meetings as much as possible and when that is not possible going out with her mask and working with clients.
