The Milton Craven Disc Golf Course at Evergreen Park

A group of us went to Wildcat Park in Ludlow this evening to meet with some park board members about the disc golf course being built there. We walked the rough 9 hole layout with course designer Mike Szymanski and gave some input on what we liked and what we thought needed changed or adjusted. We suggested some basket placement positions and tee locations, and eventually completely changed two holes to make it safer for others using the park. We ended up with a pretty cool... layout consisting of 6 fairly open but challenging holes, and 3 heavily wooded holes. Right now it looks like there will be 3 par 5's, with one stretching over 600 ft. Even though we threw a few shots on each hole set up, the pars will be determined after we can actually get some rounds in, but there will be some par 3's, 4's and 5's. The baskets are already sitting at the park and KDGC is going to help with installation of the baskets over one of the next few weekends that is yet to be determined. We're going to be looking for volunteers to help on a Saturday or Sunday when needed to not only install the baskets but also to do some trimming of overhanging branches and limbs to open up some wooded fairways. We need our members to step up and help get this project completed and we could possibly be playing this new course within the next month or so. Once a date is set for the work session I'll try and get it posted here at least 4 or 5 days in advance. The club officers have also decided to purchase and donate "next tee" direction signs to hang on the baskets just like the ones we purchased and installed in Evergreen Park. Let's get it done!!! The Kane Disc Golf Club is again seeking hole sponsors for our upcoming tournament on August 30th. The cost of sponsorship is $25. ALL money raised through our tournaments is used to make improvements to the disc golf course and Evergreen Park in general, and all the money spent for improvements is spent locally at local businesses. Hole sponsorship can also be paid for with gift certificates or products we can give away as prizes to our tournament participants. Your hole sponsorship will be recognized with a sign placed on the tee pad area as in the picture of some of last years sponsors.
