Our Lehighton satellite office is officially open! We are located in Normal Square, on Blakeslee Boulevard, in a lovely old home that has been converted into a wellness haven by chiropractor, Dan Steigerwalt. Stop by, take a yoga class at Native Yoga, get a massage, and meet with Sue Featro, our compassionate on-site therapist. Appointments for our Lehighton office or our Allentown home base practice can be made by calling 484-263-0197.

Today we set goals for 2020 and actually took a break to eat lunch (something therapists rarely do!) I am grateful everyday to work with such dedicated colleagues (clockwise from myself: Heidi Mack, Jeremy Falgout, Kerin Oksienik, Roslyn Birnbaum, Ellen Lutz, Susan Featro, Rachel Little, Pete Ellison.) Missing were our trusted associates Marissa Cruz, Holly Mullens and Lauren Falgout. Here’s to another fantastic and fulfilling year!

Clinical psychologist, author, and spiritual guide Ram Dass died this week. I highly recommend Walking Each Other Home, his simple and wonderful book on acceptance of death. Each page is like a breath of air and an embrace. If you don’t know his writings, get to know them. To anyone who is struggling with loss this holiday season, please know that you are not alone...and there is life after loss.

Reason #110 for loving my job: sometimes a giant, loveable Rottweiler shows up and lays in Tommy’s little bed! In the words of my esteemed colleague, Henry Gursky, Dogs are a miracle. Petting a dog can lower your blood pressure (I can attest to this,) release a relaxation hormone, and most importantly, remind us of the many benefits of companionship. Thanks for stopping in, Mae!

Rachel Little and I attended Manito’s Gallop for the Gold gala last night. We proudly support the exceptional riders of Manito and recognize the importance of both riding and the horse/human connection for children and adults with special needs. To learn more about Manito, please check out manitocenters.com.

My friend, Eric Schaeffer, posted this photo, and I felt it was worth sharing. We don’t have the right to decide for other people what their grief should be. How long they should grieve. What they should be doing. There are no shoulds. It is a path that you don’t understand until you walk it, and that’s ok. And your path will be different from someone else’s path, and that’s ok, too.

This is a great article. If you feel consumed by work...or bullied by the American SHOVE to produce more, work faster, be available 24/7, buy bigger; please take a moment to read this. Perhaps it’s time to reclaim our space, time, and need for respite from work. Change starts with us. https://www.facebook.com/1443226284/posts/10220157397352169

We have a responsibility to speak to our sons about sex, and this goes beyond discussing pregnancy and STD’s. The author of this article is right: by nature, boys WANT to become respectable men. They need frank discussions about rape, boundaries, and the right to say no in order to get there, and that’s where we come in! http://time.com//ive-talked-with-teenage-boys-about-sexua/

I sat down with BRC-13 News today to discuss resolutions. Take home message: New Year’s Resolutions are typically unrealistic. A more positive approach is to visualize what you want life to look like one year from now, and identify the obstacles that might stand in your way of living a happy and healthy life. https://www.brctv13.com//23149-new-year-new-you-new-years-
