CDC updates its COVID-19 guidance to include information about potential for airborne spread. Based on current science, CDC believes people are still most likel...y to become infected with COVID-19 the longer and closer they are to a person with COVID-19. A few published reports show limited, uncommon circumstances where people with COVID-19 infected others who were more than 6 feet away or shortly after the COVID-19-positive person left an area. In these instances, transmission occurred in poorly ventilated and enclosed spaces that often involved activities that caused heavier breathing, like singing or exercise. Such environments and activities may contribute to the buildup of virus-carrying particles. CDC’s recommendations remain the same: People can protect themselves from COVID-19 by staying at least 6 feet away from others, wearing a mask that covers their nose & mouth, washing hands frequently, cleaning touched surfaces often, avoid crowded indoor spaces and ensure indoor spaces are properly ventilated, and staying home when sick. Awesome tips for accessibility in this remote-learning era. Share, download, save! Also: These steps help everyone!! A colleague today mentioned how, in two sec...tions of the same course offered in the same semester several years ago, one section had a sort of closed captioning for one deaf student in the class (on a reader-board above the chalkboard), while the other did not have it. In the class with the captioning, the average student grade for all students was one full letter higher. EDIT: Someone was kind enough to send me the original source for these, and to let me know that I missed the one for people with anxiety (added in the comments).
