As we wait for coronavirus to retreat and fencing to resume, we found this throwback pic from a couple years ago. It was the last Keystone Homecoming Parade, featuring the student members of the Keystone College Fencing club!

As the (online due Coronavirus) semester draws to a close, many of KCFC’s senior student members and officers are graduating and leaving the area. So, as a gesture of appreciation for all their hard work running the club, we’ve created a plaque with the names of each year’s officers back to the club’s founding in 2014. This will hang either in our fencing locker or in a trophy case for clubs in Hibbard. Thanks to all of you for your years of service and leadership, especially this year’s officers whose fencing season was cut short due to Covid-19!

A coronavirus message to the members of Keystone College Fencing Club: Well, with the College remaining closed due to Covid-19, it looks like our semester is at an end, and summer practices seem doubtful. Hopefully we will be able to return to practices in the Fall! It's a shame, after our most successful year ever: students and community fencers travelled to many tournaments, even out of state, our first fencer went to the National Championships, and our first junior fenc...er to the Junior Olympics. Our satellite club at Scranton Prep became established, with many of their fencers also fencing and competing with us. Many coaching credentials were earned, with seven members earning National USFA referee credentials, some in multiple weapons! We didn't get to host our first big USFA Sanctioned tournament as planned, but hopefully we can return to those plans once the USFA starts authorizing tournaments again. I know most of our student fencers will be graduating, but those few who are returning, we'll need you to step up and act as student officers of the club. I'll send around an email about voting for next year's officers. Community members, we'll be relying on you more when we return to help train a new class of student fencers. In the meantime, there are a lot of good videos on fencing training you can do, Coach Janoski at Twin Tiers posts some of them. Please, everyone, stay safe and try to stay in shape. Dr. Steve R. Due to precautions to avoid the spread of Coronavirus to our area, the College has extended spring break a second week to March 23. This means KCFC practices will be cancelled until at least March 23rd. Stay tuned...

**Due to the Coronavirus Pandemic, USFA has postponed all sanctioned tournaments. We’ll try to reschedule in April** KCFC is scheduling our first USFA sanctioned E-and Under Mixed Foil and Epee tournament for Sunday March 29th at Keystone College. USFA certified referees and a chance to earn national rankings! Full uniform including knickers and long socks is required. Save the date!

KCFC Spring Open #1 took place this past Sunday March 1st. At foil, Medalists were: Gold: Dan Duggan Silver: Sunney Hardler Bronze: Jonathan Chubirka... At Epee, Medalists were: Gold: Dalton Nixon Silver: Sunney Hardler Bronze: Glori Torres Congratulations to all our medalists and all of the other great competitors who took part. Thanks also to our home-grown crop of USFA certified referees who took turns officiating!

Keystone will be hosting a small, unsanctioned tournament on Sun. March 1st. Foil starts at 9 a.m. and epee starts at 1 p.m.Space is limited, so be sure to preregister on askfred.net now. Cost is $15 per weapon, beginners are welcome.

New Sock Order Coming Soon! If you'd like a pair, let us know how many you're getting and the size you need. The price for the KCFC socks is currently $10.

The Keystone College Fencing Club is offering free beginner’s classes in foil fencing to students and the local community starting this Thursday, Feb 27th at 6:00pm in the Howell Activity Room of the Hibbard Campus Center. This is a four week class for those of high school age or older; those under 18 must have be accompanied by a parent or guardian. All equipment is provided; wear athletic clothes and long pants you can lunge in.

Binghamton University will be hosting its Spring Open tournament for those interested in competing. Foil starts at 9 and epee starts at 12. The first weapon cost will be $15 with each additional weapon costing $5. You can register for the tournament at Askfred.net.
