The new St. Rita Place and Cascia Center will provide affordable housing for independent seniors and 7,500 sq. ft. of multi-purpose community space on South Broad Street in Philadelphia. The project recently broke ground earlier this month. We are excited to support Cecil Baker + Partners as part of the design team for this new mixed-use development.

Brinker Lofts in Bethlehem is a 2020 PA Historic Preservation Award recipient! Learn more about its initial use below... #regram @pres_pa We are pleased to announce the 2020 Construction Project Award recipients of the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards, including this project in the Rehabilitation category. The former Lehigh Valley Cold Storage Company in Bethlehem (Northampton County) was a windowless brick 1893 Romanesque Revival style building with limited possib...ilities for reuse. The windows in this building are recessed blind openings. While at first glance it appears the brick was a later infill of a prior window opening, it is not. Removing the brick, or opening the window, and installing functioning windows was not an option and would not meet the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards. An innovative solution that introduced 67 new windows facing the interior courtyard has transformed Brinker Lofts into 30 apartments with retained industrial charm creating a cool place to live. We are pleased to announce the 2020 Construction Project Award recipients of the Pennsylvania Historic Preservation Awards, including this project in the Residential/Small Project category. See more

I enjoy working on historic structures as it connects me to the past, I’ll never forget going into the tower at Christ Church and seeing some of the names and dates of the people that have been there before me, as far back as 1838. It is always interesting to see how buildings were engineered in previous eras, how construction materials and techniques have changed and developed over time no two historic structures are ever the same! We are pleased to announce that our Director of Historic Preservation, Brian Wentz, CDT, PE, was recently acknowledged by The Association for Preservation Technology International (APT) as an APT Recognized Professional! #historicpreservation #preservationmonth #architecture #preservation #restoration @ Keast & Hood

Happy Preservation Month! We had the pleasure of revisiting one of our old friends, Lucy the Elephant, a National Landmark built in 1881. We first worked on Lucy in 2007 and were back again for an assessment to make sure this iconic structure continues to greet shore visitors well into the future. #preservationmonth #nationalhistoriclandmark @ Lucy the Elephant
